Footage shows police from the Cherng Talay Police Station investigation unit detaining the head of security at a luxury Phuket hotel, taking him to point out the scene where he attempted to break into a female DJ’s room. The suspect was confronted with CCTV footage recovered by the hotel. Investigation revealed he had prior civil lawsuits and had changed his name.
Regarding the incident on 17 Jan 2026, a video clip circulated on social media after a female DJ staying at a luxury hotel in Phuket experienced a security breach. On 17 Jan 2026 at 15:56, the victim, Ms. Mirinda (surname withheld), reported to investigators at Cherng Talay Police Station that on 16 Jan 2026 at about 10:00 p.m., while she was in her hotel room, an unidentified man used a key card to open her door but could not enter because she had locked the latch. Officials are investigating to identify the suspect and will proceed with relevant legal actions.
On 18 Jan 2026, investigators reviewed the hotel’s CCTV footage and identified the suspect as Sergeant Kanisorn, 39, a former soldier and the hotel’s head of security.
At the time of the incident, the suspect had finished his shift at 4:00 p.m. but did not return home. Instead, he stayed hidden in a hotel office room wearing a T-shirt, shorts, and sandals. He used a housekeeping master key card, which he was responsible for safeguarding daily, to try opening several rooms near the victim’s room. He then approached the victim’s door, rang the bell, knocked, and said “Hello,” before running to hide in a corner of the hallway.
He later returned to the victim’s room and used the master key card to open the door. He tried to enter but was unable to because the victim had latched the door from inside and pushed against it while shouting. The suspect then fled. He also deleted footage from the CCTV during the incident, but the hotel was able to recover it.
Subsequently, Cherng Talay Police investigators tracked down the suspect and brought him in for questioning. He was charged with "attempted nighttime unlawful entry into a residence." The hotel has terminated his employment contract.
Recently, images were released showing Cherng Talay Police investigation officers escorting Sergeant Kanisorn, the hotel’s head of security, to point out the scene outside the hotel room. Meanwhile, CCTV footage captured the moment of the attempted break-in.
Further investigation revealed the suspect had been sued in a civil case by a bank for defaulting on a loan and had changed his name. Police are currently proceeding with legal measures accordingly.
