In the case of a female hotel employee assaulted by a man who climbed over the counter and attacked her while she was asleep due to illness, the incident occurred inside a hotel in Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, at approximately 03:15 on 19 Jan 2024 GMT+7. Investigation officers reviewed the hotel's CCTV footage and saw a man about 160 - 180 cm tall, dark-skinned, wearing a black jacket, white pants, and orange shoes, walking around the victim near the counter several times before the incident. When he saw the employee asleep, he climbed over the counter and struck her head multiple times with an iron rod, then took two phones and the employee's black bag before fleeing. The suspect was later identified as Mr. Rattikorn Yingyod, 36, and has since been apprehended as previously reported.
Progressing at Khao Mahakassapa Monastery, family and relatives have moved the body of Ms. Wirin, or "Nui," 35, a female receptionist, for religious rites. The atmosphere is filled with sorrow, with many relatives and colleagues attending the memorial. Many still cannot come to terms with the sudden loss.
Mr. Komkrit, 42, the victim's boyfriend, revealed that normally she worked the night shift from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., and they would keep a video call open on the phone throughout to feel close even while sleeping.
On the night of the incident, he witnessed the event through the video call and saw the moment the perpetrator climbed over the counter toward his girlfriend. He immediately knew she was in danger and tried shouting her name through the phone to wake her, but after one call, the line was cut. He tried calling back several times until around 03:10, when someone answered silently for about seven seconds before hanging up. Feeling uneasy, he rushed to the hotel on his motorcycle but arrived too late.
Mr. Komkrit also said that after the suspect was arrested, he looked at the perpetrator but did not ask any questions because he was speechless, and the suspect showed no remorse for his actions.
However, he chose to forgive because he believes his late girlfriend would have forgiven as well, knowing that anger would not bring her back to life.
Meanwhile, Ms. Maprang, a coworker of the victim, said that the night of the incident was originally her shift, but she took sick leave. The victim volunteered to work in her place according to their shift rotation, never imagining that covering the shift would lead to such a tragic end.
