Brutal Murder of Myanmar Woman Found in Bang Khun Thian Rental Room Police Hunt Suspected Ex-Boyfriend

A murder took place in a rental room in Bang Khun Thian. The victim was a 27-year-old Myanmar woman. Investigators from Division 9 and Samut Sakhon Police Station are urgently pursuing the suspected ex-boyfriend, coordinating along the border to prevent him from fleeing the country.

At 12:15 p.m. on 21 January 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Prasert Phunkaew, investigating officer at Samut Sakhon Police Station, received a report of a murder in a rental room in Soi Sak Mongkhon Chai 2, Samae Dam subdistrict, Bang Khun Thian district, Bangkok. He informed his superiors and went to the scene with Police Colonel Trairat Pengnu, Chief of Samut Sakhon Police Station; Police Lieutenant Colonel Boonserm Srisuk, Deputy Superintendent of Operations; Police Lieutenant Colonel Weerachai Sangsi, patrol officer; detectives from Samut Sakhon Police Station; forensic officers; medical examiners from Siriraj Hospital; and volunteers from Ruamkatanyu Foundation.

At the scene, the body of Miss Kyu Kyu Wai, 27, a Myanmar national, was found lying face-up in the far corner of the room. She wore an orange short-sleeve T-shirt and a red-patterned sarong. Her body was covered with a pink blanket. She had three stab wounds in the abdomen caused by a screwdriver and signs of strangulation on her neck. A screwdriver about one foot long was found nearby and collected as evidence. The medical examiner concluded the preliminary cause of death as asphyxiation.

Investigating Miss Sanu, 43, a friend and fellow worker, she said Miss Kyu Kyu Wai usually stayed alone in the room after separating from her boyfriend, Kyaung Min Nyang, 37. Recently, Kyaung had been visiting more often, trying to reconcile, but she refused. Before the incident, she saw Kyaung visit the room and heard a heated argument. Friends knocked on the door to help, but it was locked from inside and could not be opened. After a while, the noise stopped, and everyone assumed they had resolved their dispute and went back to work. However, when Kyu Kyu did not show up for work, they went to her room. The door was locked from outside. They called out but got no reply. They broke down the door and found her dead.

Initially, investigators from Division 9 and Samut Sakhon Police Station have urgently reviewed CCTV footage to trace the suspect’s escape route and are coordinating with Myanmar border authorities to prevent him from fleeing the country. They expect to apprehend him soon.
