Crane Collapse on Train at Sikhio: Police Interview 100 Witnesses, Charges to Take More Time

The police commander of Nakhon Ratchasima province convened an investigation team regarding the crane collapse on a train in Sikhio. He revealed that police have interviewed about 100 witnesses so far and expect it will take some time before charges can be filed. They need to see how far the evidence leads. He emphasized that the case must be handled thoroughly and carefully.

On 21 January 2026 at the Sikhio Police Station conference room in Nakhon Ratchasima province, Pol. Maj. Gen. Narongsak Promtha, Commander of Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Police, traveled to hold a meeting with the investigation team about the crane collapse from the high-speed rail construction project that fell onto a train in Sikhio district, resulting in multiple injuries and fatalities.

The meeting lasted several hours and finally concluded at 3:00 p.m.

After the meeting, Pol. Maj. Gen. Narongsak Promtha stated that he came to follow up on the case progress, which has so far involved interviewing over 100 witnesses, mostly from the injured and deceased sides. Removing the crane did not impact evidence collection because forensic officials had already secured evidence. Next, they will question related company personnel and officials who worked on the day of the incident, some of whom have already been preliminarily interviewed.

However, the investigation has revealed connections to several other matters, so further questioning of officials present at the incident is necessary. Additionally, police have sent invitations to expert engineers to join this investigation and are currently awaiting their responses.

Finally, he asked the public following the news to know that police are urgently conducting the investigation process. The evidence collection must be complete and meticulous. Regarding filing charges, it depends on how far the evidence leads, so it will take some more time to gather all evidence and bring charges against those involved.
