The incident involved a lone suspect attempting to rob a gold shop located in Ban Nong Prue, Pho Klang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Ratchasima. The suspect was fully covered, wearing a dark gray jumpsuit and a helmet, and fired an automatic pistol to threaten the staff, shooting once and damaging the glass sign inside the shop before fleeing without taking any valuables, as previously reported.

On 25 Jan 2025 GMT+7, following the incident, investigative teams from the Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Police, the Region 3 Police Investigation Unit, and the Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima Police promptly conducted an urgent investigation. They found a suspicious motorcycle parked at a residence in Pho Klang Subdistrict, not far from the crime scene. His escape route matched the surveillance camera footage exactly.

During intensive questioning, Sergeant Major Wichian, the municipal council member, confessed to committing the crime. He admitted using a Norinco 213 9mm pistol to threaten the staff. His motivation stemmed from significant debt problems, leading him to decide to commit the robbery to obtain money to pay off his debts.
