Fire Destroys Medical Equipment Factory Warehouse in Chaeng Watthana Area After Worker Lights Grill Fire

A fire broke out at a medical equipment factory warehouse on Soi Chaeng Watthana 10, completely destroying the factory building. Police have taken a female worker who lit a grill fire to investigate the incident.

At 09:24 on 25 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Police Lieutenant Chaiyarat Thammasitao, an investigator at Thung Song Hong Police Station, received a report of a fire inside a medical equipment company's warehouse in Soi Chaeng Watthana 10, Intersection 7, Thung Song Hong Subdistrict, Laksi District, Bangkok. He quickly arrived at the scene with Police Colonel Yutthasilp Karin, Chief of Thung Song Hong Police Station, Police Lieutenant Pakpong Fonglao, Deputy Chief of Investigation, officials from Bangkok's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, five fire trucks, and volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation.

The scene was a large warehouse enclosed by a secure fence covering approximately one rai (about 0.16 hectares). The facility operated as a manufacturing and storage site for medical equipment, producing face masks, PPE suits, and gowns. Flames were seen burning inside the warehouse.

The warehouse was adjacent to the Child Creative Foundation and PP Apartment. Evacuation efforts were rushed due to the narrow alley. The building's central structure collapsed during the fire. Firefighters sprayed water for nearly an hour, but the fire could not be contained in time, resulting in total destruction of the factory. Fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities.

Witnesses reported that before the fire started, a female factory worker was seen lighting a charcoal stove to grill pork outside the factory without concern. Later, a burning smell was noticed, followed by visible flames intensifying at the stove. The fire then spread rapidly to flammable materials, the ceiling, and upper sections of the building, fueled by thermal insulation. The female worker who lit the fire was seen crying and seeking help. Shortly after, an explosion-like sound was heard before the fire fully engulfed the factory.

Preliminary investigations confirm that the company is properly registered. Thung Song Hong Police have taken the worker who lit the charcoal stove and other witnesses for questioning to determine the fire's cause. They have also coordinated with forensic officials to further investigate the incident.
