Police have detained a security guard from the Royal Bangkok Sports Club who kicked a female delivery rider unconscious at her foot. The guard was sent to court to request detention on charges of assault causing injury. He declined to comment but nodded to indicate remorse.
Regarding the case of the security guard assaulting the female Grab rider, at 10:30 a.m. on 26 Jan, Police Colonel Rangsarn Sonsing, acting superintendent of Pathumwan Police Station, said that after questioning, Miss Supannikar Liangson, 28, the female rider, confirmed she would press charges against the offender, Mr. Pornsak Juntasap, 54, a security guard at the Royal Bangkok Sports Club. Another security guard questioned insisted he only tried to intervene to stop the altercation and did not assault the victim; the victim also does not wish to pursue charges against him.
Mr. Pornsak was charged by investigators with assault causing injury to another person. However, the injuries were not severe, as medical reports concluded the victim was not seriously harmed and required only two days of rest.
After completing further questioning of the suspect security guard, police submitted the case to the Pathumwan District Court.
Regarding the disturbance last night involving the victim’s delivery rider friends at Pathumwan Police Station, initial findings showed no offenses were committed in the police jurisdiction. There were no assaults or damage to government property, so no charges were filed against the victim’s group of delivery rider friends.
While officers were escorting the suspect into the vehicle, reporters asked for details about the incident. He remained silent and did not answer questions but nodded when asked if he regretted the incident.
