At the scene, a female victim was found dead—identified as Ms. Phatree Uraphanom, 44 years old. The suspect, MR. Later the same day at 4:00 p.m., Pol. Maj. Gen. Phumipat Phatrasriwongchai, Commander of the Provincial Police Region 4, and Pol. Maj. Gen. Anuwat Suwannaphum, along with officers from the Investigation Division of Region 4, Khon Kaen Provincial Police, and Mueang Khon Kaen Police Station, inspected a hotel in Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang Khon Kaen District. They had a lead that MR. ANTHONY JAMES CONDRON, 58, had fled to Khon Kaen city. He abandoned a white four-door pickup truck registered in Chonburi at the Sirikit Heart Center, Khon Kaen University. Subsequently, a blue pickup truck with unknown registration arrived to pick him up, heading to the hotel.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Phumipat Phatrasriwongchai said the arrest was part of an ongoing case that began in Maha Sarakham. The suspect fled from there to Khon Kaen. Police coordinated continuously and tracked the foreign man’s movements in Khon Kaen. Given the severity of the crime, the investigative team was fully prepared and followed the suspect until he was found at the hotel.
The investigative team followed protocol and brought in an interpreter to communicate with the foreign suspect. Initially, he admitted that his wife, a Thai woman, lived in Mueang District, Maha Sarakham Province. He said the wife’s death resulted from an argument and misunderstanding. He pulled out a gun to threaten her, but it accidentally discharged, killing her. Frightened, he then drove to visit a friend in Khon Kaen. The firearm used—a 9mm Sig Sauer pistol—was found concealed in the engine compartment of the white Isuzu pickup truck, which police seized as evidence.
Currently, Mueang Khon Kaen Police have brought the suspect to their investigative unit to await officers from Don Wan Police Station, Maha Sarakham Province, who will take custody for questioning and formal charges to proceed with legal action.
