Gunmen Open Fire on House in Trang, Over 50 Bullet Holes in Car and Walls

Unknown assailants opened fire on a house in Trang, with bullets piercing vehicles and walls over 50 times. Fortunately, no one inside was injured. A frightened woman said only women, elderly, and children were in the house. Police suspect the attackers approached on foot and are urgently investigating to identify and capture them.

At 11:30 on 27 Jan 2026, Lt. Col. Pichet Susan, Deputy Superintendent (Investigation) of Mueang Trang Police Station, along with investigative police units, Trang Provincial Police forensic officers, and local authorities inspected a house in Ban Pho Subdistrict, Mueang Trang District. The inspection followed an incident around 22:40 the previous night when unknown assailants fired weapons at the house.

Inspection revealed shotgun bullet impacts piercing the dark blue Isuzu TFR pickup truck registered in Surat Thani, including the body, rear window, and side mirror, with over 20 holes penetrating the cabin. Additionally, a black MG vehicle registered in Phuket was struck in several spots, though none penetrated its interior.

At the house’s front wall, which encloses a bedroom, over 20 bullet holes were found in the concrete wall, though none penetrated inside. Two shotgun shell casings were found in the weeds beside the house and collected as evidence by authorities.

Ms. Chidchanok, 32, who was present during the incident, said that around 22:20 on 26 Jan, she heard three consecutive gunshots, followed by a sound like stones hitting the roof. No vehicle noises or lights were seen entering or leaving, as the house has only one entrance. After the shots, she was afraid to leave her bedroom where she was with her niece, then asked her father about the noise and learned it was gunfire. She called the police before coming outside. Five people were inside the house that night: one elderly person, Ms. Chidchanok, and three children aged 3, 6, and 8.

Ms. Chidchanok added that the house belongs to her sister, but she lives there to care for her nieces and nephews. The family bought the land and built the house almost two years ago. They have never had problems or conflicts with anyone and live normal lives, working and resting at home. She feels very scared because children were inside and frightened, crying in fear. She urged police to quickly catch the perpetrators, believing the attack was deliberate since the house is isolated. The motive remains unknown at this time.

Initial checks showed nearby CCTV cameras did not capture the incident. Police suspect the assailants approached on foot, using a path beside the house through rubber and oil palm plantations and a stream before escaping onto a nearby road. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from surrounding areas to find clues, track down the suspects, and determine the true motive.
