
Deputy Police Chief Samran revealed that Police Chief Kittirat has ordered an intensive crackdown on influential figures, hired gunmen, and military-grade weapons during the seven days before the election. He also emphasized that police must strictly maintain neutrality in their duties. If any unit receives complaints, they must promptly investigate, verify the facts, and report urgently.
On 28 January 2026, Pol. Gen. Samran Nualma, Deputy Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police and Director of the Security and Order Command Center for Election Management, announced that Police Chief Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet had directed the Royal Thai Police to prepare for security and order during the parliamentary election and referendum on Sunday, 8 February 2026, as well as the advance voting on Sunday, 1 February 2026, with continuous monitoring nationwide.
Regarding the prevention and suppression of all forms of crime, orders were given to the Metropolitan Police Bureau, Provincial Police Regions 1-9, the Central Investigation Bureau, and the Technology Crime Suppression Division to launch a nationwide crackdown on all types of crime from 25 to 31 January 2026, focusing on influential figures, hired gunmen, and military-grade weapons. The Police Strategic Office is tasked with compiling and reporting operational results to the Royal Thai Police.
Additionally, Pol. Gen. Samran requested that all units cooperate in supporting election management tasks upon request from the Election Commission, provincial election directors, or district election committees. They must strictly safeguard the security of transportation for parliamentary election ballots, referendum ballots, and election materials.
Furthermore, the Metropolitan Police Bureau and Provincial Police Regions 1-9 are instructed to implement measures to prevent unrest during election campaigning or political activities by any political group or party within their jurisdictions. In the event of urgent or significant election-related offenses, reports must be submitted to the Royal Thai Police. All police officers are strictly instructed to enforce the law if violations occur and to maintain neutrality in their duties. If any unit receives complaints about officers not being neutral, investigations must be expedited, facts confirmed, and reports promptly submitted to the Royal Thai Police.
