Investigation Unit of Metropolitan Police Division 6 Arrests Southern Drug Trafficking Ring, Seizes Big Batch of 141 kg of Ice Methamphetamine

Investigators from Metropolitan Police Division 6 demonstrated their skill by arresting two suspects involved in a southern drug trafficking operation, seizing a large batch of 141 kilograms of ice methamphetamine. One suspect managed to escape.

At 13:00 on 28 Jan 2026 GMT+7, under the command of Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, Police Major General Theeradej Thammasuthi, Deputy Commissioner, Police Major General Chaikrit Pho-a, Commander of Division 6, Police Colonel Narit Pratthanaporn, Deputy Commander of Division 6, Police Colonel Cherdsak Rodkhem, Chief of Investigation Division 6, and Deputy Chiefs Police Lieutenant Colonels Prasert Chaemthong, Wisit Saibuathong, and Kittisak Jutiworakul ordered Police Lieutenant Colonel Pannawat Jirattamarit, Head of Investigation Team, to lead officers from Investigation Unit, Division 6.

They arrested Mr. Ruangsin or Sin Phanphet, 48, from Udon Thani Province, and Mr. Nontawin or Man Tatsanakitpipat, 37, from Phetchaburi Province. The evidence included ice methamphetamine packed in gold tea bags branded GUANYINWANG, hidden inside four white sacks totaling about 141 kilograms, as well as a white Ford Ranger pickup truck, a blue Ford Ranger pickup truck, and a white 22-wheel Isuzu tractor-trailer. The arrest took place along Highway 362 (Saraburi Bypass Road, east side), Taling Chan Subdistrict, Mueang Saraburi District, Saraburi Province on 26 Jan 2026 GMT+7.

The arresting officers had received intelligence from informants that a group of Thai men, whose real names were unknown but originated from Phetchaburi Province, were part of a drug trafficking network. They regularly used two Ford Ranger pickup trucks, one white and one blue, to transport drugs from inner Bangkok and its vicinity back to the southern region for delivery to customers. The investigation team continuously monitored their activities and reported to their superiors.

On 25 Jan 2026 GMT+7, at approximately 22:00, the officers learned that the white Ford Ranger pickup truck had entered Bangkok area heading towards Saraburi Province. Officers began tracking the vehicle, and around 02:30 on 26 Jan 2026 GMT+7, they found it parked along Highway 362 (Saraburi Bypass Road, east side), Taling Chan Subdistrict, Mueang Saraburi District, Saraburi Province.

Nearby, they spotted a white Isuzu tractor-trailer parked as well. The drivers of both vehicles were seen conversing in a suspicious manner. The arrest team dispersed around the area to observe. At about 04:00, while under surveillance, a blue Ford Ranger pickup truck—the second target vehicle—arrived and parked nearby. Its driver exited and spoke with the drivers of the white Ford Ranger and the Isuzu tractor-trailer.

The three men were then seen helping each other unload white sacks from the trailer onto the white Ford Ranger pickup truck. After loading, as they were about to disperse, officers attempted to search them. However, the men took advantage of the darkness to flee in different directions. Officers managed to apprehend two suspects, while one escaped.

Upon interrogation, the arrested men were identified as Mr. Ruangsin or Sin Phanphet, the driver of the tractor-trailer, and Mr. Nontawin or Man Tatsanakitpipat, the driver of the blue Ford Ranger pickup truck. Searching all three vehicles revealed ice methamphetamine stored at the rear of the white Ford Ranger pickup truck.

Mr. Ruangsin or Sin stated that he was the tractor-trailer driver responsible for transporting the ice methamphetamine from the northeastern border region. He said he was hired by an organizer to deliver the drugs to customers waiting at the location.

Mr. Nontawin or Man said that he and Mr. Theerasak (who escaped) had been hired by the organizer to drive from Phetchaburi Province to pick up the drugs. After receiving the drugs, they planned to transport them back to the southern region for distribution to clients as instructed by their employer.

Initially, both suspects were charged with jointly possessing and distributing Category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine or ice) with intent to sell, in violation of the law. This act was considered commercial drug trafficking, contributing to drug spread among the public, impacting national security and public safety. The suspects and the seized evidence were handed over to the Narcotics Suppression Bureau for legal proceedings.
