
An armed suspect raided a well-known gold shop inside a Sukhumvit mall, stealing 149 baht of gold and 170,000 baht in cash before fleeing. Police are urgently pursuing the suspect.
At 23:30 on 30 Jan 2026, police unit 191 received a report of an armed robbery at a famous gold shop inside a mall in the Phra Khanong subdistrict, Khlong Toei district, Bangkok. Officers from Phra Khanong police station promptly responded to the scene.
Initial information indicates the suspect is a single male wearing a long-sleeved blue shirt, long pants, and a cap. He used a firearm to rob the gold shop, stealing gold weighing a total of 149 baht and approximately 170,000 baht in cash. After the robbery, he fled via an unknown route.
According to the gold shop staff, while they were closing the shop, a man entered, poured gasoline, and brandished a firearm to threaten them into handing over gold and valuables inside the shop. After obtaining the gold and valuables, the suspect fled. The staff then activated the alarm and alerted the police to investigate.
Following the incident, Pol. Lt. Gen. Siam Boonsom, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, along with Pol. Maj. Gen. Pallop Aermla, Deputy Commissioner, ordered Pol. Maj. Gen. Chotiwat Luangwilai, Chief of the Metropolitan Police Bureau’s Investigation Division, Pol. Maj. Gen. Witawat Chinkham, Chief of Police Region 5, Pol. Col. Chaiwat Pradapthai, Superintendent of Phra Khanong police station, investigation officers from the Metropolitan Police Bureau, Division 5, and Phra Khanong police detectives to urgently track down the suspect.
Investigations are ongoing, including reviewing CCTV footage from the area and tracing the suspect’s escape route.
