Today (31 Jan 2026), news teams visited the mall where the incident occurred after CCTV footage captured the suspect stealing approximately 149 baht of gold and around 170,000 baht in cash, totaling losses over 10 million baht before escaping. Upon inspection, the gold shop remains closed.

A staff member present during the incident said that at the time, she and colleagues were putting away the remaining 3-4 trays of gold into the safe when the suspect squeezed in through a door left slightly open. He threatened, “Give me the gold or I’ll burn the place,” brandishing a gun to intimidate the employees. Fearful, the staff complied and handed over the gold, after which the suspect grabbed gold from all trays and took cash located near the front of the shop.

The employee noted that the suspect appeared to be a man dressed to conceal his identity, so they could not recognize him. However, his speech suggested an Isan regional accent. She believes the suspect had previously scouted the location. She added the shop had closed later than usual that night, which may have given the robber the opportunity to act quickly, with the entire crime lasting no more than three minutes.

Since she started working at the shop, this was the first time such an incident had occurred, causing great shock and fear among all staff. All employees present have already given statements to the police.

After the incident, Pol. Lt. Gen. Siam Boonsom, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, along with Pol. Maj. Gen. Pallop Aermla, Deputy Commissioner, ordered Pol. Maj. Gen. Ritweer Sukcharoen, Commander of the Police Investigation Division 5, and Pol. Col. Chaiwat Pradapthai, Chief of Phra Khanong Police Station, to urgently pursue the suspect with investigative teams.

Currently, additional witness interviews are underway, along with examination of CCTV footage inside the mall and along the suspect’s escape route. Preliminary information indicates the suspect fled via the mall’s parking lot, exiting through Sukhumvit Soi 50, then headed toward On Nut Road.
