Police Region 5 denies reports of arresting the suspect who shot a patrol officer at Sankampaeng Police Station, clarifying that the claim of an arrest in Saraburi is false and confirming that the suspect has already fled abroad.
Following a social media post claiming that authorities had arrested Mr. Wipak Wongwan, 36, the suspect in the case of shooting a police officer at Sankampaeng Police Station, in Saraburi province yesterday evening (30 Jan).
Today (31 Jan 2026), our news team contacted Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawatchai Pongwiwatchanai, Deputy Commissioner of Police Region 5, who stated that the person arrested in Saraburi is not Mr. Wipak, and Police Region 5 has not received any report of this arrest as circulated on social media.
Furthermore, Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawatchai added that based on the latest investigation, Mr. Wipak has fled abroad to a neighboring country and is currently being pursued. He urged the public to verify information before sharing.
