
The Central Investigation Police Commissioner, along with the Chief of the Crime Suppression Division, escorted the "gunman" and the "driver" involved in the murder of Kamnan Yom onto a police plane to hand them over to Police Region 9 for prosecution.
At 07:45 on 1 Feb 2026 in Trang Province, Pol. Lt. Gen. Natthasak Chaowanasai, Commissioner of the Central Investigation Police, Pol. Maj. Gen. Phatthanasak Bubphasuwan, Chief of the Crime Suppression Division, and Pol. Col. Phongpanot Chukaew, Deputy Chief of the Crime Suppression Division, along with the special operations unit “Hanuman” of the Crime Suppression Division, escorted Lieutenant Witawat Boonsanong, 41, the driver, and Thanaphisit Panjasuwan, 48, the gunman—both suspects in the murder of Mr. Payom Sangthong, known as Kamnan Yom, aged 64, a candidate for the Tha Chamwong Subdistrict Administrative Organization chief in Rat Phum District, Songkhla Province—onto a police plane from Don Mueang Police Aviation Division to deliver them to Police Region 9 for prosecution.
This arrest resulted from joint operations between Police Region 9 and the Central Investigation Police Command. Pol. Lt. Gen. Natthasak Chaowanasai ordered Pol. Maj. Gen. Phatthanasak Bubphasuwan to lead the special operations unit “Hanuman” of the Crime Suppression Division to capture Lieutenant Witawat Boonsanong, 41, at a department store in Mueang Nakhon Nayok District.
Meanwhile, Pol. Col. Phongpanot Chukaew, Deputy Chief of the Crime Suppression Division, and Pol. Col. Eksit Pansitha, Superintendent of Division 4, Crime Suppression Division, led forces to arrest Thanaphisit Panjasuwan, 48, in Mae Taeng District, Chiang Mai Province.
Initial interrogations revealed that both suspects confessed. They were then handed over to Police Region 9 for further legal proceedings.
