Foreign Man Murdered and Dismembered in Bang Lamung, Suspected Debt Motive

A gruesome case: a foreign man's dismembered body was buried in parts in Bang Lamung. The victim is suspected to be a missing Russian man. Police are tracking the murder team, linked to compatriots after threatening chat messages demanding repayment of debts.

At 4:00 p.m. on 1 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Mikhail Emelianov, 30, a Russian national, disappeared without a trace. His mother, Olga Lazabenko, 51, flew from Russia to Thailand to file a police report seeking help to find her son, fearing something bad had happened. Before his disappearance, he had received threatening messages from a fellow Russian demanding repayment of over $120,000, approximately 3.7 million baht. His fate remains unknown. The report was filed on 8 Jan 2026 GMT+7.

Following the mother's complaint, Police Colonel Natthapon Phongsuksakul, Superintendent of Nong Prue Police Station, and Police Colonel Phasakorn Paijit, Chonburi Provincial Investigation Superintendent, led teams from Nong Prue Police and Chonburi Investigation Division to investigate. They traced the case and reviewed all CCTV footage to locate the missing man.

At around 4:00 p.m., the dismembered body of Mikhail Emelianov was found, brutally killed and buried in seven parts near a pond inside Soi Phatthana 4, Village 10, Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. Upon discovery, reports were made to superiors. Police Major General Phongphan Wongmanithes, Chonburi Provincial Police Commander, investigators from Nong Prue Police, forensic officers from Chonburi Crime Scene Investigation Unit 2, and a medical examiner arrived at the scene for examination.

The site is an abandoned plot of about 10 rai. Preliminary checks found the victim's body dismembered and buried in five locations about 1-2 meters apart. Some parts were wrapped in black plastic bags, others in clothing matching what Emelianov wore on his last day: a black T-shirt and light green long pants. Police are verifying the identity, but evidence strongly suggests it is the missing man, who had been gone for over 23 days.

Meanwhile, Chonburi investigators have arrested a foreign suspect in this case in Bangkok. The suspect is in custody undergoing interrogation. The suspected motive is debt-related murder, as threatening chat messages warned that if $120,000 was not repaid, the victim's organs would be sold. Authorities are conducting further verification.

Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
