CCTV Tracks Suspect Who Slashed Students Neck and Stole Motorcycle in Chonburi

In Chonburi, a suspect pretended to flag down an 18-year-old student's motorcycle, requesting a ride in the same direction. Taking advantage of the moment, he pulled out a knife and slashed the student's neck, causing serious injury. The student fought back fiercely and managed to escape. Meanwhile, the suspect quickly stole the motorcycle and fled toward Rayong province.

Reporters stated that on the morning of 2 Feb 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Prakasit Paladeth, investigation officer at Huay Yai Police Station, received a report of an assault and robbery involving a student. The incident took place in Ban Suan Mab Charoen, Village No. 2, Khao Mai Kaew Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. Upon notification, he informed his superiors and proceeded to the scene accompanied by rescue workers from Sawang Boriboon Foundation, Pattaya.

At the scene in the middle of a dirt clearing by Ban Suan Mab Charoen Road, rescuers found the injured victim in a vocational student uniform lying in a pool of blood. He was identified as Mr. Siraphat Atthaisong, 18, a third-year vocational student at a technical school in Bang Lamung District. He had a large, deep slash wound on the right side of his neck, a stab wound under his chin, and a cut on his right ear. Rescue teams quickly provided first aid and stopped the bleeding before transporting him to Pattaya Pattamakun Hospital.

Mr. Siraphat Atthaisong, the injured victim, reported that before the attack, he was riding his black Honda Wave 125 motorcycle home to prepare materials for a school exam. About 300 meters from home, a Thai male suspect walking by the roadside suddenly ran up and kicked his motorcycle, causing it to lose control and fall. He tried to fight back but was stabbed in the neck with a knife and had his neck locked while being slashed repeatedly. He fought desperately to survive, then ran to his home for help, collapsing from exhaustion at the entrance. Local residents came to assist, causing the suspect to flee, stealing the victim's motorcycle.

Ms. Rattikan Atthaisong, 40, the victim's mother, tearfully recounted that her son went to take an exam the previous day and stayed overnight at a friend's house. On the morning he returned to collect his belongings for another exam, he was attacked as he was about to turn into the house driveway. The suspect kicked his motorcycle and stabbed her son. The son ran to seek help and collapsed at the dirt clearing near their home. The assailant then stole the motorcycle and fled. She appealed to the police to apprehend and prosecute the suspect.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Prakasit Paladeth of Huay Yai Police Station inspected the scene and recovered a kitchen knife approximately 10–12 cm long, found about 300 meters from where the victim was discovered. The knife was confiscated as evidence. He coordinated with detective officers to gather information and review CCTV footage to track down the suspect for prosecution.

CCTV footage captured the suspect fleeing on the stolen motorcycle, heading toward Rayong province.

In the afternoon, the Huay Yai police investigation team visited Mr. Siraphat Atthaisong at Pattaya Pattamakun Hospital for questioning to gather leads on the suspect. The victim’s condition had improved, and he was able to provide information. He said that at about 6 a.m. on the morning of the incident, while riding his motorcycle home to get his belongings and shower before school, he saw the suspect standing at the Khao Mai Kaew gas station, about 2 km from the attack site. The suspect flagged him down, pretending to ask for a ride, and asked, “Where are you going?” When the victim said he was heading home, the suspect said, “Same alley, can I ride with you?”

The victim agreed and allowed the suspect to ride as a passenger. When they entered the alley where the attack occurred, the suspect suddenly slashed the victim’s neck with a knife, forcing him to stop the motorcycle at the roadside. The assailant then kicked him and repeatedly tried to stab him under the chin and at the ear. At the time, the victim was wearing a jacket, which the suspect tried to tear off until it came loose. The victim ran to escape and sought help from relatives about 300 meters away before collapsing on the dirt clearing. The suspect then fled on the victim’s motorcycle.

Police Colonel Wasurat Chaitheerapat, Deputy Commander of Chonburi Provincial Police, revealed that the investigation team is actively searching for leads on the suspect. A challenge is that there are no CCTV cameras at the exact crime scene. The suspect’s behavior involved pretending to ask for a ride, then attacking and robbing the victim once off the motorcycle. Police are urgently pursuing the suspect for prosecution.

Subsequently, reporters obtained CCTV footage near the scene showing the victim running to his home to seek help after the attack before collapsing at the entrance clearing. Another camera captured the suspect riding the stolen motorcycle along Highway 331 (Sattahip–Chachoengsao). A final camera at a gas station near a race track showed the suspect entering the station on the motorcycle, then leaving and heading toward Rayong province.
