Arrest of Ah Pae, Fish Head Rice Shop Owner in Lam Phak Chi, Hiding in Thailand After 32 Years for Hong Kong Murder Case

The Crime Suppression Division tracked and arrested “Ah Pae,” owner of a fish head rice shop in Lam Phak Chi, who fled a Hong Kong murder and burial case and had been hiding in Thailand for 32 years, during which he fathered three children.

On 3 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Pol. Lt. Gen. Natthasak Chaowanasai, Commander of the Crime Suppression Division, and Pol. Maj. Gen. Patthanasak Bupphasuwan, Commander of the Crime Division, ordered Pol. Col. Netiwit Thanasitnitikul, Superintendent of Division 2, Pol. Lt. Pol. Wut Phatinuwat, Deputy Superintendent, and Pol. Lt. Phaiwan Tanlok, officer of Division 2, to lead forces in arresting Mr. Mui Yiu Keung, 62, a Chinese national wanted under a Hong Kong SAR warrant for joint murder, at a house in Village No. 9, Lam Phak Chi Subdistrict, Nong Chok District, Bangkok.

This arrest stems from a 1989 case when Hong Kong police were notified of a man's body found buried and concealed near a beach. Authorities obtained arrest warrants for four suspects, having arrested almost all accomplices except Mr. Mui Yiu Keung, the key suspect accused of using a shovel to strike the victim to death.

Recently, Hong Kong SAR authorities contacted the Crime Suppression Division Headquarters to assist in tracking and arresting Mr. Mui Yiu Keung, believed to have fled to and been hiding in Thailand since 1994.

Investigation revealed a suspect matching the description had opened a fish head rice shop named “Ah Pae” in Lam Phak Chi. Upon inspection, the owner’s appearance matched the wanted man. Authorities obtained a search warrant from the Minburi Criminal Court, No. C40/2569 dated 2 Feb 2026 GMT+7, and conducted a search. The man could not present any ID or passport to the police.

Under intense questioning, the man admitted his identity as Mr. Mui Yiu Keung, the individual wanted by Hong Kong authorities. He fled to Thailand in 1994, operated a small factory in Samut Prakan Province, married a Thai woman, and had three children. He recently opened the fish head rice shop in Lam Phak Chi until his arrest. Regarding the joint murder charge, he declined to comment. Initially, he was charged with illegal entry into the country.

Reports state that tomorrow (4 Feb 2026 GMT+7), the Commissioner of Police from Hong Kong will visit the Crime Suppression Division Headquarters to hold talks on cooperation for transnational criminal arrests between Thailand and Hong Kong and to coordinate the extradition of Mr. Mui Yiu Keung to Hong Kong for prosecution.
