Police arrested a 17-year-old boy who was trying to escape after shooting dead a popular restaurant manager, his neighbor, by the roadside. The suspect claimed revenge as the reason, saying it caused problems for his family.
At 1:00 p.m. on 4 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Police Lieutenant Wasan Keerinil, deputy investigator of Thanyaburi Police Station, received a report of a fatal shooting inside a lane near a women's semi-formal housing area, Village No. 2, Rangsit Subdistrict, Thanyaburi District, Pathum Thani Province. He, along with Police Major General Peeraphol Chotiksethien, Commander of Pathum Thani Provincial Police, Police Colonel Jarin Athibathanon, Chief of Thanyaburi Police Station, Police Lieutenant Colonel Thawatchai Rattanapahu, deputy chief of investigations, the investigative team, Poh Teck Tung Foundation volunteers, and forensic police officials, proceeded to the scene.
At the scene by the roadside, they found a deceased man slumped over a blue and white Yamaha Fino motorcycle with Bangkok license plates. A food bag hung from the vehicle. The man was later identified as Mr. Paisan (surname withheld), 41, the manager of a well-known restaurant inside a shopping mall. He had been shot once in the back of the head with an unknown caliber firearm, causing his death. The suspect fled after the shooting.
Mr. Thanee Suekui, the village headman of Village No. 2, revealed he was alerted by residents about the shooting and rushed to the scene. He recognized the victim as a local resident who, about two to three months earlier, had confided in him regarding accusations from a neighboring household alleging that the victim had an intimate relationship with the neighbor's wife. The victim denied any involvement and feared potential conflict given their proximity, so he reported it to the village headman. Later, it was learned that this same person had been shot dead.
Later, Police Lieutenant Colonel Thawatchai Rattanapahu, deputy chief investigator, along with the investigative team, used tactical methods to arrest a 17-year-old male youth named Mr. Moo (alias) at his home in Soi Rung Rueang, Village No. 2, Rangsit Subdistrict, Thanyaburi District, Pathum Thani Province. He was caught with a .38 caliber pen gun while preparing to flee.
Initial questioning revealed that Mr. Man, the son of the neighbor whose father had accused the victim in a previous village headman consultation of being involved with his wife, confessed. He said he was angry because the victim, who was his neighbor, had harshly insulted his father, causing him to endure such treatment almost daily, which led to the incident.
Mr. Pong (alias), 52, father of Mr. Man, claimed that the victim, who lived nearby, had forcibly entered his house and assaulted his wife, recording a video of the incident. The clip included a male voice speaking in an Isan accent and showed a birthmark on the arm. He said he repeatedly asked to see the victim's arm to verify the mark, but the victim refused. This caused daily quarrels between him and his wife, possibly leading to their son's stress and resentment that prompted the crime.
Police Lieutenant Wasan Keerinil, deputy investigator of Thanyaburi Police Station, stated that they inspected the scene, documented photographic evidence, interviewed witnesses, and had forensic officers collect evidence to support the case. The victim's body was sent to the forensic department at Thammasat University Hospital, Chalermprakiet Campus, and the suspect was questioned for legal proceedings.
