
Urgent! The Crime Suppression Division has arrested the suspect in the gold shop robbery at a famous shopping mall in Songkhla just one day after the incident. The suspect is a 15-year-old youth.
On the evening of 3 Feb, a lone suspect robbed a gold shop inside a well-known department store located in Kho Hong Subdistrict, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, opposite Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai Campus. The total weight of the stolen gold was 33 baht, as previously reported.
The latest update: At 18:45 on 4 February 2026, reporters learned that Pol. Maj. Gen. Phatthanasak Bupphasuwan, Commander of the Crime Suppression Division, ordered Pol. Col. Phongpanot Chukaew, Deputy Commander; Pol. Col. Suriyasak Jirawat, Chief of Division 3; and Pol. Col. Anusorn Thongsai, Chief of Division 6, to lead officers to detain Mr. Aun (alias), a 15-year-old from Songkhla, the suspect, at Ubon Ratchathani Bus Terminal.
The suspect was arrested based on evidence identifying him as the perpetrator, including CCTV footage and various witness testimonies. After the robbery, he deposited the seized gold with a friend, then flew from Hat Yai Airport in Songkhla to Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok. At dawn, he took a bus from Mo Chit Bus Terminal heading toward his final destination in Ubon Ratchathani. Officers from Division 6 coordinated with Division 3 to apprehend him there.
Reports also stated that when officers approached to identify themselves and conduct the search, the suspect became visibly startled and attempted to flee. Officers immediately subdued and detained him.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to depositing the gold with a friend in Songkhla. He is currently being transferred to the Ubon Ratchathani Highway Police for further questioning regarding the incident.
