Guest on Popular Show Arrested for Purchasing Services from Underage Youths Suspect Denies Charges

Anti-Trafficking Police arrested a guest from a popular show for purchasing services from youths under 18. Initially, he denied the allegations but admitted to buying services through a modeling agency and was uncertain whether he asked about the age.

On 5 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Pol. Lt. Gen. Natsak Chawanasa, Commissioner of the Crime Suppression Division, and Pol. Maj. Gen. Wittaya Sriprasertphap, Commander of the Anti-Trafficking Division, ordered Pol. Col. Warit Pathumarak, Superintendent of Division 2, and Pol. Lt. Narongwet Jiwdej, Inspector of Division 2, to arrest Mr. Somwang, 30, under a Nonthaburi Provincial Court warrant No. 135/2569 issued on 29 Jan 2026 GMT+7. He was charged with abducting a minor over 15 but under 18 from parents or guardians for profit or immoral purposes, with the minor consenting, and taking persons aged over 15 but under 18 for immoral purposes, even if consented. He was caught at a parking lot at a market on Charansanitwong Road, Bang Bamru Subdistrict, Bang Phlat District, Bangkok.

Previously, Division 2 of the Anti-Trafficking Police arrested a modeling agency that trafficked girls under 18 for sexual services and prosecuted them for human trafficking. Further investigation revealed clients purchasing sexual services from minors under 18, identifying Mr. Somwang as one such client. He had appeared on a popular show discussing being deceived by a woman he loved.

Mr. Somwang contacted the modeling agency via the Line app to purchase sexual services. The agency sent photos of girls and young women to choose from, with prices ranging from 10,000 to 30,000 baht. They also sent the location where the girl would meet him for sexual activity. Evidence was collected leading to the court issuing an arrest warrant.

Later, Division 2 of the Anti-Trafficking Police received information that Mr. Somwang was hiding and residing near Charansanitwong Road in Bang Phlat District. They arrested him and formally charged him with abducting a minor over 15 but under 18 from parents or guardians for profit or immoral purposes, with the minor consenting, and taking persons aged over 15 but under 18 for immoral purposes, even if consented.

In initial questioning, Mr. Somwang denied the charges but admitted to purchasing sexual services via the Line app through the modeling agency. He said he received photos of young women to choose from, agreed on a price, transferred money to the agency, and then received the location for the woman to meet him and have sexual relations before parting ways. He said he did not know the girl was under 18 and was unsure if he asked the agency or the girl about her age. He was then handed over to investigators at Division 2 of the Anti-Trafficking Police to proceed with prosecution.
