The Police Chief reported that overall, the election proceeded smoothly. Several complaints of election law violations have been found, especially ballot tearing and vote-buying. Currently, there are seven reported cases under investigation, being processed according to procedures set by the Election Commission.
On 9 Feb 2026, it was reported that at 18:00 yesterday, Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, the Police Chief, chaired a meeting of the National Police Election Security Center (NPESC). Pol. Gen. Samran Nualma, Deputy Police Chief and Director of NPESC, along with commanders from various units, attended to review the security and order during election management nationwide at the National Police Operations Center and via video conference.
The Police Chief expressed gratitude to all police officers and commanders at all levels and units for their full dedication. This contributed to maintaining security and order throughout the country during today's election, which proceeded smoothly overall.
Regarding election law violations and related criminal offenses such as vote-buying and selling, there are currently seven cases, including ballot destruction, distribution or sale of alcohol, and hosting parties. Complaints have been filed in some areas. The Police Chief ordered officers to expedite investigations and legal actions, coordinating with the Election Commission, provincial offices, and Bangkok authorities in all cases to ensure legality and fairness.
The most frequent election law violation found is ballot tearing. Investigations are ongoing in each area. Many cases appear to result from misunderstandings without intent to commit offenses, involving both voters and, in some cases, election officials assisting voters.
Additionally, vote-buying violations have been reported in seven cases: one each in police regions 4, 5, 6, and 7, and three in region 8, all under investigation and proceeding according to procedures set by the Election Commission.
Regarding vote-buying prosecutions, the Police Chief emphasized that the process follows Election Commission guidelines. Police can conduct preliminary investigations and report to the Commission within 72 hours. Cases may then be transferred or jointly handled until completion, with strict legal action against offenders.
Pol. Gen. Samran also expressed thanks to all police officers for their dedication and sacrifice. He stressed close monitoring of post-election situations. If there are significant events or information, prompt reports to the National Police Office are required. Police will support Election Commission missions until election duties conclude, after which the National Police Election Security Center will close on 12 Feb 2026.
