Aem Pintongtha, accompanied by her husband, visited Thaksin Shinawatra. She confirmed that her father knows the election results and sends encouragement to supporters and Ajarn Chen, saying they have done their best.
At 10:00 a.m. on 9 February 2026 at Klong Prem Central Prison, Ms. Pintongtha Shinawatra Kunakornwong and her husband Mr. Natthapong Kunakornwong, also known as Pong, represented the family to visit Thaksin Shinawatra. They arrived with Mr. Winyat Chatmontri, Thaksin's personal lawyer, amid media interest and a group of red-shirt supporters waiting outside the prison to show their support.
At 10:50 a.m., after the family finished visiting Thaksin inside the prison, Mr. Natthapong said that during the visit, his father sent his thanks and encouragement to everyone who offered support. Regarding election updates, they had not discussed the matter with him; he simply expressed gratitude for all the encouragement.
When asked if Thaksin was aware of the election results, Ms. Pintongtha nodded and confirmed that he had learned about them from the news.
When asked if Thaksin sent encouragement to his supporters, Ms. Pintongtha said he thanked everyone and urged them to stay strong. He also asked to send support to Ajarn Chen Dr. Yotsanan Wongsawat, acknowledging that he had done his best. She then raised her hands in a traditional Thai gesture of thanks to the media to end the interview and expressed gratitude to the red-shirt supporters waiting to encourage them before leaving in their private car.
Reporters added that before Ms. Pintongtha and Mr. Natthapong entered the prison, a male red-shirt supporter from Ang Thong province arrived carrying a large black-and-white photo nearly one meter tall. The photo showed Thaksin Shinawatra during his time as a police cadet. On the photo, a message written in red read: “With care, Police Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Thaksin Shinawatra, stay strong. After 18 years, just over two months remain—it's not long. Love and miss you. Every time I think of you, I can’t help but cry because I feel sorry for you. If I could take your place, I would. Sending fighting spirit from Uncle Ord, Doctor Yai, and younger brother Charan.” Ms. Pintongtha and Mr. Natthapong gratefully accepted the gift.
Meanwhile, Mr. Pisai Pinwiset, 64, from Wiset Chai Chan district, Ang Thong province, brought three boxes of giant Vietnamese salak fruit weighing over 30 kilograms to present to the Shinawatra family. He explained that he brought the nearly 30 kg of salak because they taste good—sweet and crunchy—and this was their first harvest of the year. This was the third time he had brought fruit to the family; previously, he had delivered salak to their residence at Chan Song La. Next month, he plans to bring mayongchid (a tropical fruit) as well. Ms. Aem had already spoken and thanked his younger sister. Regarding the recent election results, as a voter, he said he was somewhat disappointed. In Ang Thong province, he noted some unusual vote-buying and hoped the Election Commission would investigate according to the law.
