
The Criminal Court sentenced "Jo Prukorn," a former Progressive team member, to 30 years in prison for lèse-majesté under Section 112 of the Criminal Code.
At courtroom 907 of the Criminal Court at 10:00 a.m. on 10 Feb 2026 GMT+7, the court heard case number Black 1486/2023. The Criminal Division 4 prosecutor charged Mr. Prukorn Sarakul, known as Jo, a former Progressive team member, with lèse-majesté under Section 112 of the Criminal Code and offenses under the Computer Crime Act.
During the trial, the defendant fled. The court issued an arrest warrant and ordered a bail forfeiture. The defendant's lawyer in this case is Mr. Anon Nampa, a lawyer and political activist currently imprisoned under a Section 112 case, who traveled from prison to attend the hearing. Previously, on 18 Dec 2025 GMT+7, the Criminal Court sentenced Mr. Prukorn in case 1485/2023 to 20 years imprisonment for lèse-majesté and computer crime offenses in a separate proceeding.
The prosecution stated that from 8 Nov 2021 to 27 Mar 2022, the defendant defamed, insulted, and expressed malice against the King by uploading defamatory content on the Twitter application. This was considered an insult and disparagement of the King, who holds a revered position as the head of state and is beyond reproach. The acts were likely to cause the King to be despised and hated, incite public misunderstanding, and encourage opposition to the monarchy, potentially leading to hatred. The defendant was aware that the posted information was computer data violating national security laws.
After consideration, the court found the evidence proved the defendant guilty under Section 112 of the Criminal Code and Section 14(3) of the Computer Crime Act for multiple offenses. The defendant was sentenced to 10 counts, each carrying 3 years, totaling 30 years, to run consecutively after case 1485/2023, in which the court had sentenced him to 20 years imprisonment.
