Moment Captured: Gunman Storms School, Injures Principal and Student Before Surrendering

Captured moments of the gunman invading Phatong Prathan Keereewat School shooting the principal and a student who were injured before deciding to discard the gun and surrender

On 11 Feb 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that a gunman stormed Phatong Prathan Keereewat School in Phatong Subdistrict, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, holding an unknown number of students and teachers hostage. The suspect was a male about 18-19 years old. Later, the gunman decided to drop the gun and surrender to police.

The incident is believed to have stemmed from the suspect's anger at not finding a particular teacher who had disciplined his younger sister. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Health reported the injured as follows:

• At Hat Yai Hospital, one female patient was shot in the chest and torso, underwent surgery, and is under close observation in the ICU.

• At Songklanagarind Hospital, two female patients aged 14 years: one was shot in the abdomen and is undergoing surgery, while the other fell from a height, injuring her ankle and is receiving treatment.

Additionally, reports confirm the woman receiving treatment at Hat Yai Hospital is the school's principal. Further updates will be provided as available.
