Police Escort 18-Year-Old to Psychiatric Hospital Blindfolded and Restrained for Safety

An 18-year-old man was escorted from Hat Yai Hospital to Songkhla Rajanagarindra Psychiatric Hospital blindfolded, tied to a stretcher, and remained motionless throughout the journey, accompanied by a police officer for safety during transport.

Updates on the incident where an armed assailant attacked Patong Prathan Khiriwat School on Municipal Road 31, Patong Subdistrict, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, taking teachers and students hostage. This led to the death of the school principal and injuries to two students. Police carefully executed a tactical plan and successfully apprehended the perpetrator, as previously reported.

At 1:00 p.m. on 12 Feb 2026 GMT+7 at Hat Yai Hospital, reporters observed that police from Hat Yai Police Station in Songkhla province escorted Khemanan, an 18-year-old man who attacked Patong Prathan Khiriwat School and fatally shot the principal and injured a female student, to Songkhla Rajanagarindra Psychiatric Hospital in Mueang Songkhla District, as he is a psychiatric patient.




The transfer from Hat Yai Hospital was conducted with the highest security measures to ensure safety during transit. He was blindfolded to prevent visual stimuli, tied securely to the stretcher to prevent movement, and handcuffed. One police officer from Hat Yai Police Station accompanied the ambulance team, and an additional police vehicle from Hat Yai led the convoy.

Throughout the entire transfer from Hat Yai Hospital, Khemanan remained calm and motionless.

Preliminary charges filed by investigators include intentional homicide, attempted murder, and violations of the Firearms Act.
