A male prisoner convicted of theft at Nonthaburi Provincial Prison broke out of his cell and climbed over the prison wall to escape at midnight. Guards only realized this in the morning after counting inmates before lights out.
At 9:00 a.m. on 13 Feb 2026, officials at Nonthaburi Provincial Prison reported to investigators at Mueang Nonthaburi Police Station that during the morning inmate count before returning to the dormitory, K.Ch. (male prisoner) Chuchai Srichin, 40, was missing. Upon investigation, it was found that K.Ch. Chuchai had escaped from the dormitory at 2:00 a.m., climbed over the prison wall near Tower 2, rappelled down to the parking lot of the prison's Hubphey shop, then fled toward Nonthaburi Pier.
After receiving the report, Pol.Col. Chayachai Nathanakan, superintendent of Mueang Nonthaburi Police Station, ordered detectives to coordinate with the Nonthaburi Provincial Prison commander to track K.Ch. Chuchai to his home in Plai Bang Subdistrict, Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province, but he was not found. Police and prison officials are gathering information about his close friends, as it is believed he may have sought refuge with them to facilitate his capture and legal process.
CCTV footage recorded at 2:22 a.m. shows K.Ch. Chuchai climbing the prison wall fence, emerging into the parking lot of the Hubphey shop, then opening the gate and escaping.
At 2:28 a.m., the prisoner was seen walking past Major Nonthaburi Mall, opposite the Nonthaburi Municipality Fresh Market, heading toward the Nonthaburi bypass intersection.
At 2:39 a.m., the prisoner passed the Nonthaburi bypass intersection and changed clothes into black attire.
At 2:52 a.m., the prisoner crossed the road to the traffic guard post, rested briefly, then escaped across the Rama 5 Bridge to the Bang Phai Subdistrict side, Mueang Nonthaburi District.
According to records, K.Ch. Chuchai Srichin was arrested by Plai Bang Police Station in a theft case in November 2025. At the time of arrest, his registered address was Plai Bang Subdistrict, Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province.
