Pathum Thani Police Chief Denies Involvement in Armed Gang’s Theft of 100 Kilograms of Cannabis and 800,000 Baht

Pol. Col. Wiwat Asawawiboon, Chief of Pathum Thani City Police Station, confirmed that a gang of about ten armed men, one of whom was dressed in a police uniform with the rank of Sub-Lieutenant and carried a search warrant, raided and stole over 100 kilograms of cannabis flower and 800,000 baht in cash. He emphasized that none of the suspects are officers under his command. The suspects have been identified, and authorities are currently gathering evidence to request arrest warrants.

A Facebook page named "Je Moi V+" posted photos along with a message stating, “This story is interesting!! Nine men claiming to be officers from Pathum Thani City Police Station raided the home of a 22-year-old man #withvideo.”

At that time, the nine men claimed to have a search warrant, alleging that the 22-year-old man was illegally growing cannabis. The claim reportedly originated from Pathum Thani City Police Station and a metropolitan police station.

However, the 22-year-old man was legally cultivating cannabis. The men then smashed CCTV cameras and placed weapons on the table to intimidate him before taking 800,000 baht in cash.

Moreover, they seized over 100 kilograms of cannabis worth about 3 million baht. The 22-year-old subsequently reported the incident to Pathum Thani City Police Station and showed the photos to police, who said they did not recognize any of the men.

The post concluded that this case would need further follow-up. If these men are not police, they should return the money. Many people falsely claim to be police—some with only a sixth-grade education aspire to be officers. If they are real police, they should come forward and clarify, as the community remains concerned.”

Regarding the case, on 13 Feb 2026 GMT+7, reporters met Pol. Col. Wiwat Asawawiboon, Chief of Pathum Thani City Police Station, who stated that on 12 Feb 2026 at about 01:30, three victims filed complaints with investigators at Pathum Thani City Police Station. They reported that on 11 Feb 2026 from approximately 13:30 to 16:00, while the three victims and about seven other people—around ten total—were staying at a house in a village in Bang Khu Wat subdistrict, Mueang district, Pathum Thani province, a group of ten men arrived. One wore a police uniform with the rank of Sub-Lieutenant and carried a search warrant, claiming the house operated as a cannabis shop as shown on social media pages. The group arrived in five vehicles: a black Honda Accord sedan (license unknown), a black Toyota pickup truck (license unknown), a blue Nissan March car (license unknown), a white enclosed pickup truck resembling a delivery vehicle (make and license unknown), and a van (make, color, and license unknown).

The man dressed like a police officer presented the search warrant, claiming that cannabis was being stored illegally inside and requested to conduct a search.

Believing they were real police, the victims allowed them inside. Once inside, the men destroyed and smashed the home's CCTV cameras, removed the CCTV recording equipment, searched the property thoroughly, and placed firearms on the table to intimidate the victims. This caused the victims to feel frightened and unable to resist.

The men then searched a desk drawer and took approximately 800,000 baht in cash. They also removed over 100 kilograms of cannabis, valued between 2.5 to 3 million baht, before fleeing the scene.

After the incident, Mr. Phut (last name withheld), 22, along with two business partners who were also victims, filed a complaint with Pol. Lt. Col. Siriwit Chaiwan, an investigator at Pathum Thani City Police Station, to pursue charges against the gang for "joint robbery with weapons and using vehicles to commit the crime or to escape arrest."

Pol. Col. Wiwat Asawawiboon added that after receiving the report, he reviewed the photos provided by the victims and confirmed that none of the suspects are police officers or subordinates under the Pathum Thani City Police Station, contrary to the social media claims. He also personally inspected the crime scene with investigators and coordinated with forensic officials from Forensic Science Center 1 to collect fingerprints and other evidence to aid in the suspects’ arrest.

Most recently, on 13 Feb 2026 GMT+7, investigators have identified the suspects and are preparing to seek arrest warrants and apprehend them to proceed with legal action.

Regarding the victims, reporters visited the house involved, where residents inside said they were currently not ready to provide any information.
