Lawyer Weerawat filed a Section 157 complaint against four PCT police officers at the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct for reopening the Minnie case, despite its dismissal by the South Bangkok Criminal Court. The client was imprisoned for 84 days before prosecutors again decided not to press charges.
At 10:00 on 13 Feb 2026 at the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct, Lawyer Weerawat Suksesa, authorized by the affected party, filed a complaint against four PCT police officers for misconduct or neglect of duty under Criminal Code Section 157. The complaint concerns the reuse of evidence from the Minnie gambling money laundering case, which had already been prosecuted, being brought up again repeatedly in fragmented cases.
Lawyer Weerawat said his client was harmed by actions claiming to be official duties by a certain investigation team. The original charges involved online gambling and money laundering, prosecuted at the South Bangkok Criminal Court, which acquitted his client on all counts. However, the investigation team reused the same evidence and facts that were already dismissed to file a new case at Tao Poon Police Station. They requested an arrest warrant from the Criminal Court without disclosing the prior acquittal at the South Bangkok Criminal Court, resulting in his client being detained for 84 days during custody. Ultimately, the prosecutor dropped the charges, recognizing it was the same case and evidence. This violates criminal procedure principles that a single act should only be punished once; multiple prosecutions in different courts are not allowed once the case is closed at the South Bangkok Criminal Court. Instead, an appeal should have been filed rather than initiating a new case using the same facts.
Lawyer Weerawat added that these actions are unlawful and fall under Section 157 and other related offenses. Today, he exercised his right to seek justice for his client, hoping this case will set a precedent clarifying finality in such matters. It should serve as a reminder to authorities to act carefully and avoid harming innocent people. His client was not involved in any police organizational conflict but may have been an unfortunate victim caught up in it. The court will review the complaint filing on 9 March 2026 at 09:00 GMT+7.
