Residents were startled when they came across a police checkpoint but ended up beaming when the chief of Don Hua Lo Police Station organized the 'Because of Love, We Catch You' project, handing out roses instead of tickets on Valentine's Day to bring smiles and happiness to the community.
At 10:30 a.m. on 14 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Pol. Col. Patthana Ropru, chief of Don Hua Lo Police Station, together with traffic officers, set up a traffic discipline checkpoint on the Don Hua Lo–Thong Khung road in front of Don Hua Lo Municipality, Mueang District, Chonburi Province. The checkpoint targeted violations like riding without helmets, drivers not wearing seat belts, and cars missing side mirrors. Residents passing through were initially shocked and worried about receiving fines when stopped by police. However, their faces lit up when Pol. Col. Patthana displayed a sign for the 'Because of Love, We Catch You' project, handing out flowers instead of tickets on Valentine’s Day. Receiving roses and lollipops, the people expressed joy and praised the police’s work.
When interviewed, a local resident said they were initially alarmed when stopped at the checkpoint, fearing a costly fine. But upon learning it was the 'Because of Love, We Catch You' project handing out flowers instead of tickets, they felt relieved and happy. They expressed gratitude to the police for their care and attention toward public safety while driving. The flowers served as a reminder to always wear helmets for safety, and that future checkpoint encounters would avoid fines if rules were followed. They did not expect such a positive initiative for the public, especially on Valentine’s Day, which made them feel good.
Pol. Col. Patthana Ropru, chief of Don Hua Lo Police Station, explained that this project is part of the Royal Thai Police's campaign to warn before issuing citations under the Traffic Act. It aims to stimulate public awareness among drivers to practice safe driving through warnings and behavior change instead of punishment. By handing out flowers instead of tickets, the 'Because of Love, We Catch You' project reminds offenders that while they receive a flower this time, repeat offenses will result in citations and fines.
Since today is Valentine’s Day, police officers distributed roses instead of tickets to local residents to create smiles and bring happiness to the community.
