Chonburi Governor Inspects Chinese Lab, Urges Swift Chemical Testing for Drugs Results Expected in 1-2 Days

The Chonburi governor promptly inspected a Chinese-operated lab in a luxury house, urging fast chemical testing. Police declared that if the substances are narcotics, they will root out the grey Chinese Dragon gang entirely.

Following reports, Bang Lamung Police Station and Nong Pla Lai Municipality officials requested to inspect a luxury house suspected of discharging chemicals into a stream. When they sought entry, two Chinese men tried to flee but were eventually caught. One climbed a wall attempting to escape but fell and broke his leg. Inside, a large lab was found with three chemical production stations and many chemicals seized.Read more: Police raid and arrest two Chinese brothers renting a luxury house setting up precursors for "Happy Water" and pod liquid.)

At 10:50 a.m. today (14 Feb 2026), Narit Niramaiwong, Chonburi Governor; Anusak Piraya-amorn, Bang Lamung District Chief; Pol.Col. Wasurat Chaitheerapat, Deputy Commander of Chonburi Provincial Police; Pol.Col. Sarawut Nuchanart, Chief of Bang Lamung Police Station; along with Chonburi investigation police, immigration officers, Nong Pla Lai municipality officials, and administrative officers inspected a rented house in Nong Pla Lai Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. The house, rented by Chinese nationals, contained scientific equipment used for mixing and distilling concentrated chemicals, including 100-liter glass tubes filled with brown liquid, plus numerous other chemicals seized inside.

Last night (13 Feb 2026), police detained Mr. Xu Tianking, 32, one of the two Chinese suspects, and shut down three chemical production machines. He was taken for further questioning at Bang Lamung Police Station. Preliminary seized evidence includes nine items of chemicals and scientific equipment: 1. Chemical C in brown boxes, approx. 21 kg each, 17 boxes; 2. Sodium bicarbonate, approx. 25 kg each, 33 sacks; 3. Silver chemical barrels, approx. 25 kg each, 7 barrels.

4. Gold chemical barrels, approx. 25 kg each, 119 barrels; 5. Caustic soda flakes, approx. 25 kg each, 4 sacks; 6. Blue barrels of chemicals, approx. 24 kg each, 135 barrels; 7. Chemical A in brown boxes, approx. 26 kg each, 26 boxes; 8. Mixed chemicals in blue barrels, three barrels weighing approx. 22, 24, and 21 kg respectively; 9. Blue oil barrels containing chemicals, approx. 27 kg each, 55 barrels.

When the seized chemicals were initially tested by the Narcotics Suppression Police and their office using drug detection methods, results indicated four types of drugs: 1. Ecstasy (17 boxes); 2. Methamphetamine (119 barrels); 3. Cocaine (135 boxes); 4. Class two narcotic ketamine (26 boxes). All items will be sent to Chonburi Forensic Science Division 2 for confirmation through forensic analysis.

During the inspection, officials insisted on wearing face masks to prevent inhalation of potentially carcinogenic chemicals. The house has two floors: the ground floor mainly serves as a resting area and chemical storage.

The second floor is arranged as a small lab, where three chemical production stations and scientific equipment actively distill certain chemicals were found, along with two unused chemical stations.

Chonburi Governor Narit Niramaiwong said that initial investigation followed a village headman's report in Village 2, Nong Pla Lai Subdistrict, who noticed suspicious waste being dumped into a stream. Upon inspection, suspicious Chinese individuals tried to flee the house, leading police to seize suspected illegal chemicals possibly linked to drug offenses or unlawful possession. Forensic teams are now analyzing the substances to determine their type and any involvement in drug crimes, with official results expected in 1-2 days.

The two detained Chinese nationals will initially face charges for working in Thailand without authorization. Further charges depend on chemical analysis results to confirm any illegal substances. Additional accusations and legal proceedings will follow accordingly.

Authorities are also investigating the origin of the chemicals to determine if they are domestic or imported. Officials will conduct thorough inspections. The governor praised the village headman of Village 2, Nong Pla Lai Subdistrict, for his alertness in suspecting chemical waste discharge from the Chinese house, which led to discovering the large chemical stockpile and lab inside.

Pol.Col. Wasurat Chaitheerapat, Deputy Commander of Chonburi Provincial Police, said initial interrogation of the two Chinese suspects confirmed they claim to be mere caretakers and have not implicated others. Police continue to investigate possible accomplices and await chemical test results to verify if the substances are illegal. If found to be drug precursors, additional charges for drug production and possession will be filed.

Pol.Col. Wasurat added that, as Deputy Commander overseeing investigations and narcotics in Chonburi, cooperation among the Narcotics Suppression Police, Immigration Office, and Department of Industrial Works is ongoing. Chemical test results are expected by tomorrow (15 Feb 2026).

The seized chemicals will be tested for narcotics, drug precursors, and hazardous substances. If confirmed as materials used in producing "pod liquids" or "Happy Water" drugs, police will conduct a thorough investigation to dismantle the entire network, identify all accomplices and masterminds, and pursue money laundering charges.

Police believe the two detained Chinese brothers, Mr. Xu Yunlong, 42, and Mr. Xu Tianking, 32, possess chemical expertise. Despite their denial, police have crucial evidence, including CCTV server footage from inside the house. Authorities request time to complete their investigation and expect to clarify all facts soon.
