The Narcotics Suppression Bureau’s Division 3 tracked and intercepted a septic tank truck concealing over 8 million methamphetamine pills. A man from Uttaradit admitted to being paid 500,000 baht to transport the drugs to the south but was caught before reaching his destination.
At 17:00 on 17 Feb 2026 GMT+7 at the Nakhon Sawan Narcotics Suppression Checkpoint, Pol. Lt. Gen. Atchayon Kraithong, Commander of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, assigned Pol. Maj. Gen. Witthas Borirak, Commander of Division 3, to hold a press conference on the arrest of a drug trafficker who used a septic tank truck to transport more than 8 million methamphetamine pills.
This followed information from a confidential informant to Division 3 that a group was smuggling drugs from the northern border region to deliver to customers in the south and nearby areas. They used vehicles to conceal the drugs, traveling a route through Mae Ai District, Chiang Mai Province; Chiang Rai; Lampang; Sukhothai; Kamphaeng Phet; Nakhon Sawan; Uthai Thani; and Suphan Buri provinces, with the final destination in the south. Authorities thus deployed forces to conduct searches and planned the arrest.
On 16 Feb 2026 GMT+7 at about 12:05, an operation team surveilling on Highway 333 (Ban Rai–Dan Chang) in Huai Haeng Subdistrict, Ban Rai District, Uthai Thani Province, spotted a vehicle with license plate 70-4538 Buriram heading toward Ban Rai District matching the informant’s description. They tracked and stopped the vehicle for inspection, finding one male driver. The vehicle was taken for further inspection and X-ray screening at the Phayuha Khiri vehicle checkpoint.
The inspection revealed approximately 8,394,000 methamphetamine pills hidden inside a modified septic tank at the rear of the vehicle bearing license plate 70-4538 Buriram. The driver, a 39-year-old man from Uttaradit Province, admitted he was paid 500,000 baht by drug traffickers. Initially, he received some money for fuel and was to drive the vehicle to Suphan Buri Province, but was caught by authorities before arriving.
Authorities have preliminarily identified the person who hired the driver and are gathering evidence to request a court arrest warrant. They are also expanding operations to dismantle this drug trafficking network.
