Urgent: L Surrenders After Threatening Rescue Vehicle with Gun, Apologizes with a Wai Gesture

Pol. Lt. Gen. Kamronwit escorted “L,” the man who assaulted his girlfriend and fired at a rescue vehicle, to surrender to police at Pathum Thani Provincial Police Headquarters, where he raised his hands in apology.

Following reports of a man acting violently and threatening to shoot children at a school in Lat Lum Kaeo District, Pathum Thani Province, Pol. Lt. Gen. Watthana Yijin, Commander of Region 1 Police, ordered officers to conduct search operations for the suspect named Nopparat Jeento, or “L.” Police set up checkpoints and roadblocks along potential escape routes to apprehend the suspect under warrants for illegal possession and carrying of firearms in public areas, to proceed with legal action as previously reported.

On 18 Feb 2026, at the third-floor conference room of Lat Lum Kaeo Police Station, Pol. Gen. Thatchai Pitanilabutr, Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police, along with Pol. Maj. Gen. Atthaphon Anusit, Deputy Commander of Region 1 Police, Pol. Maj. Gen. Peeraphol Chotiksethien, Commander of Pathum Thani Provincial Police, Governor Aekwit Meepian, and investigative officers convened to plan and accelerate the search for Nopparat Jeento, or “L,” aged 31. The meeting lasted throughout the morning to coordinate information reporting.

Pol. Gen. Thatchai Pitanilabutr revealed that the suspect had contacted local leaders in Rawaeng area yesterday (17 Feb 2026) to arrange surrender, but no further communication had been received since.

He urged that if the suspect or anyone listening is aware, they should surrender to the police or contact the district office or the provincial governor, who is present today. Authorities assure that the suspect's safety will be well protected and there is no need for concern.

He also appealed to the public who see the news or have information about the suspect to report to the police via the 191 hotline or through local officers. The police are working fully to ensure public safety, especially for schools, while pursuing the suspect, who has charges from Chonburi Province for shooting at a rescue vehicle.

Regarding law enforcement, police are acting within their authority under the Penal Code, following escalation protocols from normal force up to lethal force depending on the situation. They aim for a peaceful resolution without excessive violence. The suspect’s family—his wife, child, and in-laws—are currently under police protection in a safe location. The provincial police commander has stationed forces in key areas around the clock. Although the suspect has not entered any schools or used weapons there, police continue to provide reassurance and protection to students, parents, and teachers, regardless of how long school closures last.

Governor Aekwit Meepian stated that decisions to close or open schools are at the discretion of each school director. If a school feels unsafe or unable to care for its students, closures may be warranted until the situation stabilizes.

In Pathum Thani, several schools have been closed recently as a precaution. Police have deployed officers to all schools, and local administrative officials have instructed village heads and community leaders to maintain order as part of prevention efforts. Ultimately, decisions on school openings or closures remain with each school's director.

Reports indicate the suspect did not enter any schools or threaten with firearms there. However, since his home is near a school and he possesses weapons, the school preemptively closed to prevent potential incidents. Decisions to close or open rest with school directors, while authorities maintain confidence in police who are actively searching for the suspect and guarding schools to prevent incidents.

Additional school closures have occurred in neighboring districts, not only Lat Lum Kaeo, due to heightened concerns. Police have increased presence in schools to maintain order and are working to facilitate the suspect’s surrender or expedite his capture to reassure educators and students.

As of approximately 16:00, reporters confirmed that Nopparat Jeento, or “L,” surrendered to police at Pathum Thani Provincial Police Headquarters after coordination through Pol. Lt. Gen. Kamronwit Thupkrajang, President of Pathum Thani Provincial Administrative Organization, also known as Big Jazz.
