One Month After Crane Collapse on Train: Police Interview 190 Witnesses but No Charges Filed Yet

Progress in the case of the high-speed rail construction crane collapse on a passenger train in Sikhio, Nakhon Ratchasima: police have interviewed more than 190 witnesses. The Sikhio police chief revealed that no charges have been filed against any individuals or organizations. The Engineering Institute is awaiting examination results from multiple agencies.

Nakhon Ratchasima – Today (18 Feb 2026), Police Colonel Thatchapon Chinwong, Chief of Sikhio Police Station, Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Police, disclosed new developments in the case of the high-speed rail construction crane collapse onto a passenger train on 14 Jan 2026 near Ban Thanon Kod, Sikhio Subdistrict, Sikhio District, Nakhon Ratchasima. The tragic incident caused 30 fatalities and 70 injuries, and there is additional progress to report.




Investigators have gradually interviewed more than 190 witnesses, including injured parties and victims. Representatives of the involved company have also been questioned, though details remain confidential. No charges have been filed against any individuals or agencies yet, as authorities await expert examination results. The Engineering Institute has indicated that results from multiple agencies are pending, with an expected release around late March. Subsequently, all gathered evidence will be compiled to prepare formal charges against those responsible.




Regarding the accident site, safety inspections allowed trains to resume passing through the area five days after the incident, and normal train operations continue. The damaged crane has been moved down from the site, and construction in the area has been temporarily suspended. Police have cordoned off the site to prevent unauthorized access, preserving it as the scene of the incident. Police Major General Narongsak Promtha, Commander of Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Police, has instructed officers and the appointed investigation committee to expedite case progress and conduct a straightforward, fact-based investigation.
