Prosecutors Accelerate Witness Interviews in Second D-Icon Case After Attorney General Orders Charges Against Boss Min and Boss Sam

Prosecutors are expediting witness questioning in the second D-Icon case after the Attorney General ordered charges against “Boss Min” and “Boss Sam” in the first case. Watcharin, Director-General of the Investigation Office, said he plans to call a meeting with the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to interview foreign victims.

On 19 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Watcharin Phanurat, Director-General of the Investigation Office, spoke about progress in the second D-Icon case. The Attorney General has classified this case as involving offenses outside the kingdom and appointed the DSI as lead investigators, with prosecutors from the Investigation Office assisting under Watcharin’s leadership. He explained that the D-Icon cases are divided into two categories: offenses where victims are in Thailand and transferred money within the country to D-Icon Group, which counts as domestic offenses; and cases where victims are abroad who followed social media information and trusted various key figures or recruiters, then transferred money to D-Icon Group. Watcharin said he presented these findings to the former Attorney General, who agreed the offenses should be split into domestic and foreign categories.

Watcharin stated that the domestic D-Icon Group case falls under the DSI’s investigative authority. When the DSI investigators recommended prosecuting all suspects, they submitted their opinion to the Special Case Prosecutors’ Office. However, the Special Case Prosecutors disagreed and declined to prosecute two suspects: Yuranan Phamonmontri, known as “Boss Sam,” and Peachaya Wattanamontri, known as “Boss Min.” The case file was then returned to the DSI Director-General, who disagreed with the Special Case Prosecutors. The dispute was escalated to the current Attorney General, Itthiphol Kaewthip, who ordered charges against both suspects. They are now jointly prosecuted with other defendants in the domestic case, which is under consideration by the Criminal Court.

Watcharin added that the second case involves offenses committed outside the kingdom with victims residing abroad. The Investigation Office prosecutors have cooperated with DSI investigators in some inquiries. They plan to conduct joint investigations to gather evidence against all suspects, similar to the approach in the domestic case. A meeting with the DSI task force will be scheduled soon.
