In a shooting incident in Phang Nga, a wife recounted the moment her husband was shot dead by a neighbor in front of her. She admitted that the suspect had previously threatened them with a gun over a land dispute, prompting them to report the matter to the police. She appealed for the police to swiftly apprehend the suspect.
The fatal shooting occurred in front of a residence in Village 9, Kura Subdistrict, Kura Buri District, Phang Nga Province, on the morning of 20 Feb 2026 GMT+7. The suspect remains at large in the area, causing nearby schools to advise parents to collect their children early for safety. The suspect was identified as Mr. Praphat Boonsen, 50, nicknamed "Lon," who fled the scene on a motorcycle.
Mrs. Usa Tokmad, 63, wife of the late Mr. Halim Tokmad, 64, who died after being shot twice in the head by Mr. Praphat Boonsen while sitting outside their home, recounted that before the incident the suspect was seen driving around their house. She and her husband thought he was coming to buy something from their grocery shop, but upon seeing her husband sitting there, he approached and fired three shots—two hitting the house and one striking her husband, causing his death.
Regarding past issues, there had been disputes and the suspect had previously threatened her son with a gun because their gardens were adjacent. Although they had resolved the matter, the land dispute remained. Officials had surveyed the boundary lines and found no encroachment. Afterwards, she consulted the village headman and erected a clear boundary fence. Additionally, the suspect had thrown bottles at their house and sometimes brandished a gun threateningly. She and her husband reported these incidents to the village headman and filed a police report at Kura Buri Police Station.
Ms. Alisa Bilmad, 34, the victim's daughter, said she left her child with her father before going to work. Shortly after, the family called to inform her that her father had been shot. She knew the suspect had prior conflicts with her father because the land her brother lived on was adjacent to the suspect's. Previously, when her father was cutting grass in the garden, the suspect had fired warning shots. As the daughter, she had also filed a police report at Kura Buri Police Station about two years ago. She urges the police to expedite the arrest of the suspect.
