Quentin Griffiths, British Billionaire, Dies After Falling from Condo Pattaya Police Confirm Incident

Shocking news: Quentin Griffiths, co-founder of the global fashion company ASOS, died after falling from a condo in Thailand. Pol. Col. Anek Sarathongyoo, Chief of Pattaya City Police Station, confirmed the incident and suggested the deceased may have been under stress from legal cases after being sued by his former Thai wife.

According to reports from British international news agencies, . Quentin Griffiths, 58, a British billionaire and co-founder of the online fashion retailer ASOS, died after falling from the balcony of a luxury condominium in Pattaya, Chonburi Province.

In the latest update on 20 February 2026, reporters contacted Pol. Col. Anek Sarathongyoo, Chief of Pattaya City Police Station, for facts. He confirmed the incident occurred at 20:30 on 9 February 2026. Pattaya City police received a report of a foreigner falling from a height resulting in death at a condominium on Kasetsin 7 Alley, Moo 12, Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province.

Upon inspection of the 17-story luxury condominium, police found the foreign body below near the building. The victim was identified as Mr. Quentin John Griffiths, 58, British. The body was face down, wearing a white short-sleeved polo shirt and blue shorts. His arms and legs were broken, facial bones fractured, with severe body trauma. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Police secured the area and conducted a detailed examination before sending the body for further forensic analysis at the Police Hospital's Forensic Institute.

Investigation revealed the victim's unit was on the 17th floor, with the door double-locked from the inside (a two-level bolt lock), which could only be secured from inside the room. CCTV footage was reviewed from the time he entered the unit until police arrived. The victim was seen entering alone, with no other persons entering or exiting except him.

Subsequently, investigators and forensic officers inspected the victim's room and found no signs of ransacking or struggle. Alcohol consumption was evident inside, and a chair was found on the balcony. It is suspected the victim stood on the chair, climbed onto the balcony, and jumped to the ground below.

Officers also checked the victim's vehicle, license plate Chonburi 9720, and found court documents naming him as a defendant in two cases at Pattaya Provincial Court, case numbers A310/2568 and A1355/2568. This suggests the victim may have been under significant stress leading to his decision to end his life.

Pol. Col. Anek Sarathongyoo added that records show the victim had been conducting business in Thailand for many years (since 2007) and was previously married to a Thai woman before divorcing. The victim was involved in ongoing legal disputes with his former Thai wife, now in court. Police therefore suspect the victim's stress over these cases may have contributed to his decision to take his own life.

Quentin John Griffiths co-founded ASOS in 2000 and served as Marketing Director for four years. He sold shares in 2010 for £15 million (approximately 629 million baht) before relocating to Thailand, marrying a Thai woman, and living there until his death.
