Quentin Griffiths, co-founder of the global fashion company ASOS, died after falling from a condo in Thailand. Pol. Col. Anek Sarathongyoo, Superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, confirmed the incident, suggesting the victim was stressed over legal disputes following a lawsuit from his former Thai wife.
According to reports from British international news agencies, . Quentin Griffiths, 58, a British billionaire and co-founder of the online fashion retailer ASOS, died after falling from the balcony of a luxury condominium in Pattaya, Chonburi Province.
The latest update on 20 February 2026: reporters contacted Pol. Col. Anek Sarathongyoo, Superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, who confirmed the incident occurred. At 20:30 on 9 February 2026, Pattaya police received a report of a foreigner who had fallen from a height and died at a condominium in Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province.
Upon investigation at a 17-story luxury condo, police found the body of a foreign man identified as Mr. Quentin John Griffiths, 58, British. The body was face down, wearing a white short-sleeve polo shirt and blue shorts, with broken limbs and facial fractures. The body was severely damaged, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police secured the area and conducted a detailed examination before transferring the body for a forensic autopsy at the Police General Hospital's Institute of Forensic Medicine.
Investigations revealed the deceased’s unit was on the 17th floor, with the door double-locked from the inside—a two-tier bolt lock only operable from within the room. CCTV footage was reviewed from the time the man entered the unit until police arrived, showing the victim entered alone and no one else entered or exited the unit.
Subsequently, investigators and patrol officers inspected the unit and found no signs of property disturbance or struggle. Alcohol was found inside, and a chair was located on the balcony, leading to the assumption that the victim stood on the chair, climbed the balcony railing, and jumped to the ground below.
Additionally, police examined the victim’s car, license plate Chonburi 9720, which contained documents indicating the deceased was a defendant in legal cases at Pattaya Provincial Court under case numbers A310/2568 and A1355/2568. Authorities suspect the victim may have been under significant stress leading to his decision to end his life.
Pol. Col. Anek Sarathongyoo added that the victim had been conducting business in Thailand for many years (since 2007) and was formerly married to a Thai woman before divorcing. The ex-wife had filed lawsuits against him, which remain pending in court. Police therefore believe the victim was likely stressed by these legal matters with his ex-wife, which may have led to his decision to take his own life.
Quentin John Griffiths co-founded ASOS in 2000 and served as marketing director for four years. Shortly thereafter, he sold shares for £15 million (approximately 629 million baht) in 2010 before relocating to Thailand, where he married a Thai woman and lived until his death.
