Police Investigate Body and Evidence to Identify Girl Abandoned in Saraburi with Head Showing Signs of Blunt Force Trauma

Police have started investigating the body of a young girl abandoned by the irrigation canal in Saraburi. The head shows signs resembling blunt force trauma, though it is not yet confirmed as the cause of death. The missing arm shows evidence of animal gnawing.

On the afternoon of 23 Feb, villagers discovered the body of a girl aged about 3-5 years abandoned in a forest near the road along the irrigation canal from Chainat to Pasak, Village No. 2, Ban Klap Subdistrict, Nong Don District, Saraburi Province. The body was face down, decomposed with maggots, and missing the right arm. She was wearing long jeans, a pink jacket, a diaper, and blue socks. A white towel was found nearby. It is estimated she had been dead for at least five days.

Later, preliminary autopsy results from the Institute of Forensic Science in Pathum Thani Province indicated the female child had been dead for about one month, as previously reported.

The latest update, at 14:00 on 24 Feb 2026, Police Colonel Somkid Sawisai, Deputy Commander of Saraburi Provincial Police, held a meeting with investigative teams from Region 1, Saraburi Province, and Nong Don Police Station to work on solving the case of the girl’s body found abandoned along the irrigation canal road in Nong Don District, Saraburi.

Police Colonel Somkid said that current efforts must restart from the beginning because the medical examiner found the child had been dead for at least one month, requiring cancellation of all previous social media leads. The investigation will now focus on the body and evidence at the scene, such as clothing and bedding found there, as well as the cause of the head wound, which shows signs of blunt force trauma with a skull fracture. Authorities have not yet concluded whether this was the cause of death.

Regarding the missing right arm, officials said it may have been gnawed off by animals in the area, as there are wounds consistent with claws tearing the arm, which likely caused the arm to be lost.

Nevertheless, authorities will continue gathering clues from evidence at the scene and other sources, especially forensic evidence, to identify the girl, determine who killed her, establish the cause of death, and understand why the body was left in that location.
