The Deputy Superintendent who struck a woman, the wife of a police officer, with a bottle at a restaurant in Chaiyaphum spoke out, saying he intervened to stop the incident and denied provoking it. He admitted to consensual fighting and said he would file a counter-complaint if false statements were made.
On 26 Feb 2026 GMT+7, a woman filed a complaint accusing a police officer of Deputy Superintendent rank of hitting her head with a beer bottle, causing bleeding, after a fight with the wife of another officer at a barbecue restaurant in Chaiyaphum province. The restaurant’s CCTV captured the incident, as previously reported.
Regarding this case, the Thairath TV news team interviewed the Deputy Superintendent involved, who confirmed he was not drunk and disorderly as some media outlets suggested.
He recounted that the woman at the opposing table accused his wife of staring at her. Then the woman at the head of the table raised her phone to record a video. His partner threw a bottle at the woman filming, who then threw a beer bottle back, hitting his head and causing a cut. He stood up and asked how they could behave that way, but they did not stop and continued fighting as seen in the footage. He said he intervened to stop the fight at that point. He added that if their statements were untruthful, he would file a counter-complaint for false reporting. He admitted to consensual fighting.
The restaurant owner revealed that he was present during the incident but did not know the cause of the argument. Ultimately, he saw bottles thrown at each other, with the complainant throwing first. The fight escalated until he intervened and called authorities. He intervened because he saw one party was unarmed; if weapons had been involved, he would not have intervened. The CCTV footage from the restaurant was handed over to the authorities.
Lieutenant Colonel Phaiwan Phumimanao, Deputy Investigation Officer at Nong Bua Daeng Police Station, said they would review the CCTV footage and summon both parties for detailed questioning before proceeding with legal action.
