Civil Court Orders Seizure of Assets Worth 74 Million Baht from Lawyer Tum and Wife Pending Final Verdict

The Civil Court has ordered the seizure of assets belonging to Lawyer Tum and his wife until the case reaches a final verdict, after prosecutors petitioned the court to protect the asset seizure and prohibit the sale or transfer of assets valued at over 74 million baht, before proposing that their superiors file an appeal.

On 27 February 2026, reporters reported that on 26 February, prosecutors from the Special Case Office 2, petitioners requesting that the assets of Mr. Sittra Biebangkert, known as Lawyer Tum, and his wife be forfeited to the state, filed a petition with the Civil Court. They requested the court to temporarily seize assets listed as items 1-3 in case number F.26/2568 and items 1-23 in case number F.145/2568, with an appraised value of 74,119,527.64 baht plus any accrued interest, until the case reaches a final verdict. This was to protect the petitioners' interests during the Appeal Court's review and to prevent the transfer, sale, or concealment of those assets.

The petitioners must submit the lower court’s ruling dated 24 February 2026, which dismissed the claim to forfeit the assets to the state and ordered the return of assets to Mr. Sittra and his wife, the first and second objectors, to their superiors for consideration of an appeal against the lower court’s decision.

The Civil Court accepted the petition to protect the prosecutors’ asset interests and ordered the assets to be temporarily seized until the case reaches a final decision.

According to the Anti-Money Laundering Act, the Civil Procedure Code is applied, which means that when the court dismisses a petition for asset seizure, the effect of the seizure order remains for 7 days, during which the petitioners may request the court to extend the seizure order.
