
The son of the Nasarn Subdistrict Mayor has surrendered after fatally shooting Village Headman Kung, who had gone on a shooting rampage. The village headman had attacked and chased “Mayor Yui,” the father, who narrowly escaped death.
The incident occurred at a residence in Village No. 3, Nasarn Subdistrict, Phra Phrom District, Nakhon Si Thammarat. The house belongs to Payong Sanguanthoi, also known as “Mayor Yui,” 55, the Nasarn Subdistrict Mayor. Village Headman Kung, armed with two guns—a long shotgun and an 11mm handgun—attacked and fatally shot a villager in bed before riding a motorcycle 14 km to chase and shoot at Mayor Yui at his home. The mayor narrowly escaped by fleeing the gunfire.
Afterwards, Village Headman Kung ran to set fire to the mayor’s 10-wheeler truck before being found dead. Police at Phra Phrom Police Station are conducting detailed examinations and autopsy on the body, as previously reported.

Latest update: Around 11:30 a.m. on 2 March 2026, reporters learned that Theerapat, 25, son of Payong Sanguanthoi or “Mayor Yui” of Nasarn Subdistrict, surrendered to police along with a 9mm handgun, confessing to using the weapon to fatally shoot Pornchai, also known as Village Headman Kung.
