Police General Samran Nuanma, Deputy National Police Chief, received high-quality motorcycles to support traffic operations under the Royal Initiative project, joining forces with the private sector to strengthen traffic management for the public.
Today (3 March 2026) at 10:00 a.m., Police General Samran Nuanma, Deputy National Police Chief and Director of the Traffic Management Center of the Royal Thai Police, presided over the ceremony to receive 9 motorcycles for use in traffic police duties under the Royal Initiative project. Attending were Police Major General Pitak Uthaitham, Deputy Commander attached to the Police Chief’s Office; Police Major General Thawat Wongsanga, Deputy Commissioner of Metropolitan Police; Police Major General Chaiphat Sriprasert, Deputy Commissioner of Metropolitan Police; Police Major General Damrongsak Sawangngam, Commander of Traffic Police Division; Police Colonel Prateep Srirangphairoj, Superintendent of Division 6, Traffic Police Division; along with other police officers from the department. The event was held at the hall on the first floor of the Traffic Police Division headquarters.
The Royal Initiative traffic police project was established in 1993 following the guidance of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX). The King personally funded the purchase of motorcycles to serve as a "rapid response unit" to assist injured people, motorists with breakdowns, and to alleviate traffic congestion in Bangkok. Its key missions include acting as "vehicle doctors, people doctors, and road doctors," as well as the critically important task of transporting heart organs to patients awaiting transplants within a four-hour window. To date, nearly 160 hearts have been transported through this effort.
Recently, the Traffic Police Division received support from the private sector, with Mr. Chumpol Pornprapa and his family representing the donors in handing over nine Honda CBR500R motorcycles. These high-quality, durable, and versatile motorcycles will support the Royal Initiative traffic police in their duties to facilitate traffic flow in Bangkok and provide timely assistance to the public in emergencies.
Police General Samran expressed gratitude on behalf of the Royal Thai Police for this support, emphasizing that it enhances the operational capabilities of the traffic police. He noted that this collaboration between the police and the private sector directly advances police missions for public benefit, ensuring care for citizens in all situations, leading to faster, more efficient service and fostering lasting trust in the police organization.
