The Metropolitan Police Chief revealed progress in the abduction and murder case of a young manager, with possibly up to 10 people involved. Awaiting forensic results due tomorrow, authorities are prepared to issue an arrest warrant for the mastermind immediately and have filed additional charges against seven members of the abduction team.
At 7:00 p.m. on 4 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom, Metropolitan Police Commissioner, held a meeting with the investigative team to resolve the abduction and murder case of Mr. Ruth, or “Top,” 46, a manager at a medical equipment company. The meeting aimed to update progress on capturing the fugitive who fled to a neighboring country, gather further evidence, identify additional offenders, and issue an arrest warrant for the mastermind or person who commissioned the abduction.
The Metropolitan Police Commissioner disclosed after the meeting that the incident occurred on 18 Feb. Relatives filed a missing person report with Sutthisan Police Station on 19 Feb, reporting loss of contact with Mr. Ruth. Police investigations confirmed that the abduction and murder incident indeed took place.
There are a total of nine individuals involved: eight who carried out the abduction and one who ordered or commissioned it. So far, seven have been arrested; two surrendered and were granted bail, five remain in Bangkok Remand Prison. One suspect, responsible for hiring and organizing the abduction team, is still at large near the Thai border with a neighboring country. It is unclear if he has left the country, but initial findings indicate he received assistance in fleeing.
Regarding the victim's body, it cannot yet be confirmed if it is Mr. Ruth. Authorities await forensic results scheduled for tomorrow (5 Mar). If confirmed, seven suspects will face additional charges of premeditated murder. Evidence links the mastermind or person commissioning the abduction, and if forensic results confirm the body found in an abandoned house in Lopburi province is Mr. Ruth, authorities will seek a court warrant to arrest the mastermind.
The abduction motives center on two possibilities: a love affair or business conflicts between the missing person and the mastermind. Whether there was intent to kill remains unclear until the autopsy results are released tomorrow. If the victim died on or after 19 Feb, authorities will be able to confirm intent to kill immediately.
The Metropolitan Police Commissioner added that this case is particularly shocking and brutal. The perpetrators planned and prepared for the crime long in advance, renting a house in Samut Prakan province as the crime scene. Investigations found blood traces there. The perpetrators reportedly monitored the victim's movements for over a week until they seized the opportunity to act on 18 Feb.
This case may involve as many as 10 people. It remains unclear if the tenth person is male or female, but authorities will pursue all leads and take action against all involved.
The mastermind or person who commissioned the abduction is already identified. Authorities await forensic and autopsy results from the Police Hospital's forensic institute tomorrow. If the body is confirmed to be Mr. Ruth, authorities will immediately request a court warrant for arrest.
