Order to Investigate All Police Officers Present at Incident of Man with Brain Hemorrhage: A Case Study

Pol. Col. Ekkarat Uncharoen, Deputy Commander of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Provincial Police, revealed that he has ordered the establishment of a fact-finding committee to investigate all police officers present on the timeline of the incident involving a man who suffered a brain hemorrhage. The patrol officers mistakenly believed he was driving under the influence, handcuffed him, and took him to the police station without transporting him to the hospital. This is being treated as a case study to improve police operational procedures.

Updates on the "Sai Mai Must Survive" case: the victim's family has filed for justice regarding a 42-year-old man who suffered a brain hemorrhage. Patrol officers mistakenly thought he was drunk driving, arrested and handcuffed him, and took him to the station without hospital transfer. His condition remains critical and unconscious, with a 50/50 chance of survival. Pol. Maj. Gen. Surawut Saengrungruang, Commander of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Provincial Police, has ordered the involved officers to clarify the facts as previously reported.

Most recently, on the morning of 5 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Pol. Col. Ekkarat Uncharoen, Deputy Commander of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Provincial Police, disclosed that he has ordered the formation of a committee to investigate all police officers involved according to the incident timeline—from receiving the emergency call via radio communication, through the inspection and assistance phases, to hospital transfer. The inquiry aims to identify how many officers were involved and whether procedures were properly followed.

The Deputy Provincial Police Commander emphasized that this case should serve as a case study to enhance police performance, ensuring the public receives the best possible service and preventing similar harm from recurring.

Additionally, coordination will be made with Bang Pahan Hospital to review patient admission procedures, initial treatment, and the referral process to Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Hospital, clarifying all steps for the patient's family.

At the same time, all police stations have been instructed to exercise greater caution in assessing situations, especially emergency medical cases, requiring thorough analysis before making decisions to protect citizens' rights and safety.
