Authorities are awaiting an arrest warrant for the true mastermind behind the young manager's kidnapping and murder case, believed to still be in the country. Investigators from Sutthisan Police Station plan to immediately petition the court for the warrant once the autopsy results are available.
After tracking down the body of Mr. Rut, or Top Maneeprasert, a medical equipment company manager in the Sutthisan area, police found he was burned to death in the bathroom of an abandoned house in Chai Badan District, Lopburi Province, on 3 March. He had been kidnapped by a gang led by Second Lieutenant Phumeth, or Art, Ngensrichai, chairman of the Bangkok Security Network for Phra Khanong District and a board member of the Reserve Force Relations and School Center, who remains at large along with seven accomplices. The group planned the attack by staging a motorcycle collision with the victim's car in front of a famous shrimp pond in Soi Ratchada 18, Huai Khwang District, Bangkok, in the early morning of 18 February. The motive was the victim's involvement with a woman who had a child and was connected to a powerful figure in a southern province; both lived in the same condominium. The victim's mother reported him missing to Sutthisan Police Station on 19 February, as previously reported.
On 5 March 2026, reporters noted that after Metropolitan Police Commissioner Pol. Lt. Gen. Siam Boonsom summoned the investigation team for a briefing and updated the media, several news outlets gathered early to follow the case closely.
This morning, investigators from Sutthisan Police Station are reviewing additional evidence after the Police Hospital's forensic institute identified the cause of death and confirmed DNA to verify the body as Mr. Rut. They plan to file a petition with the Ratchadaphisek Criminal Court to issue arrest warrants for all eight suspects: Mr. Jakraphan (Jay), Mr. Boonphat (Santi), Mr. Pongsit (Pae), Mr. Apisit (Porn), Mr. Paothong (Aum), Mr. Sitthichok (Back), Mr. Weerawit (Kwan), and Second Lieutenant Phumeth (Art), on charges of "joint murder."
Previously, all eight were subject to arrest warrants for "joint coercion and unlawful confinement." Seven have been apprehended; only Second Lieutenant Phumeth (Art) remains at large.
The police have identified the true mastermind and are gathering evidence to request the court to approve an arrest warrant. They affirm that even if the person is a public figure, it will not affect the case, and they believe the individual is still in Thailand.
The Police Hospital's forensic institute has completed the autopsy but is waiting to compare the victim’s DNA with relatives to confirm identity and determine the cause of death. Results are expected today, after which Sutthisan investigators will immediately petition the court for arrest warrants.
Reports indicate the key suspect who hired Second Lieutenant Phumeth (Art) to carry out the kidnapping and revenge is believed to be the husband of the woman the victim was involved with. This husband was once a member of a prominent political party and previously married to a woman involved in a widely reported car accident in 2010. If police capture Second Lieutenant Phumeth, the case will likely be solved with the true mastermind and motive revealed promptly.
