MP Ball Postpones Second Appearance to Acknowledge Charges in Online Gambling Case Citing Preparation for Parliamentary Reporting

MP Ball postponed his second session to acknowledge charges related to the online gambling case, citing preparations to report to parliament. He is currently preparing explanatory documents for cyber police, with some documents still incomplete.

The investigation team of Technology Crime Suppression Division 3 (TCSD 3) expanded their probe into an online gambling network connected to a prominent politician in northeastern Thailand. They investigated the gambling websites “huaysodplus” and “Banhuay98” before gathering evidence and issuing arrest warrants for individuals involved, including local politicians in Kalasin province: Mr. Pathanun Chandon, known as S.J. Ney, 29, Mr. Pathompong Phutaongern, 31, or S.J. Piao, and three others, totaling five people, in early February.

Subsequently, investigators issued a summons for Mr. Plakorn Pimphanit, or MP Ball, a well-known politician, to provide information and acknowledge charges on 5 Mar 2026 GMT+7. The charges include "conspiring to facilitate gambling or acts designed to lure, advertise, or directly or indirectly induce others to participate in gambling (online lottery) without official authorization, organizing gambling via electronic media, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and conspiracy among two or more persons to commit money laundering." This followed findings of financial links to the network, indicating beneficiary status.

The latest update on 5 Mar 2026 GMT+7 at the Technology Crime Suppression Division 3 headquarters in Chaeng Watthana Government Complex, Lak Si district, Bangkok, reports that Mr. Plakorn Pimphanit, or MP Ball, sent a legal team to coordinate with investigators to request a 15-day postponement. The reason given was ongoing preparation of documents to report as a parliament member, following the Election Commission's announcement of the first batch of certified elected members by constituency. He also cited incomplete documents for explaining the case to cyber police, hence requesting to delay the appointment.

Investigators from Technology Crime Suppression Division 3 issued a summons for Mr. Plakorn Pimphanit, or MP Ball, MP for Kalasin's 2nd district, to provide information and acknowledge charges on 19 Mar 2026 GMT+7.
