Suspicious Circumstances in Death of Foreign Man Found Tortured Alongside Railway Road

Authorities suspect foul play after discovering the body of a foreign man alongside the Khao Talo railway road in Chonburi province. The body bore torture marks, including electric shocks and bruises all over, with no identification documents found—only a letter written in Chinese.

At 09:30 on 5 March 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Ratchaphon Saneewong Na Ayutthaya, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of Bang Lamung Police Station, received a report of a foreign body found by the Khao Talo railway road, Moo 10, Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. Upon receiving the report, he informed his superiors and, along with Deputy Superintendent Yongyut Wan Nuea, Superintendent Wutthipong Kasa, the investigation team, forensic police from Forensic Science Division 2 in Chonburi, the on-call doctor from Pattaya Patthamakun Hospital, and rescue volunteers from Sawang Boriboon Foundation Pattaya, rushed to the scene to investigate.

At the scene, near the motorcycle parking area of a hotel adjacent to the railway road, they found the body of an Asian man, estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old, likely Chinese. The body was hanging by a cream-colored nylon rope about 1.5 meters long, tied to the roof beam of the motorcycle parking (about 3.2 meters above ground). The body was in a standing position with legs slightly bent, the left hand raised holding the noose around the neck. He wore a round-neck navy blue shirt with the English word “ARAS” on the back, long white and black elephant-patterned pants, and white sneakers. Two chunks of asphalt were placed vertically beneath his feet. The victim had likely been dead for 6 to 12 hours. No identification documents were found on him.

Initial examination of the body revealed extensive bruising from head to toe. The face was swollen and bruised, with multiple black spots on both legs resembling electric shock marks. The back showed marks similar to burns from an electric device, with several blistered wounds. The forensic team and medical examiners believe these injuries occurred 2 to 3 days before death.

Additionally, in the right pants pocket were found three letters, one lighter, and one pen. The letters, written in Chinese, contained the message: “I apologize to my family. Please contact the embassy and get in touch with my parents. Please help me return home.”

Mr. Ekapot Nundee, 41, a water truck driver for a contracting company and the first person to find the body, reported that the road alongside the railway was currently closed for surface repairs. Before discovering the body, he was spraying water on the road surface to suppress dust. While turning his vehicle, he was shocked to find the body in the motorcycle parking area next to the hotel fence, and immediately called the police.

Investigators, the forensic team, and the police are thoroughly collecting evidence at the scene and urgently seeking leads from witnesses and reviewing all nearby CCTV footage to identify the victim and understand how he came to be found hanging. The body will be sent for a detailed autopsy at the Police General Hospital's Institute of Forensic Medicine to determine the exact cause of death.
