DSI Announces Summons for MP Chonnapat Linked to Online Gambling and Money Laundering, March 12

The DSI announced that MP Chonnapat Naksua is linked to online gambling and money laundering, summoning him to meet investigators on 12 March 2026 at the Department of Special Investigation.

On 6 March 2026, Police Lieutenant General Rutthapon Naowarat, Minister of Justice, Ms. Rawiwarn Jaturapitporn, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Police Colonel Yuttana Praedam, Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), Police Colonel Chatupol Bongkochmas, Deputy Director-General of DSI, Police Lieutenant Colonel Khemmachat Prakaihngmanee, Director of the Technology and Information Crime Division, along with Mr. Kamonsit Wongbutnnoi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO), jointly held a major press conference on dismantling a billion-baht online gambling website linked to a prominent politician.

Police Colonel Yuttana Praedam, Director-General of DSI, stated that this matter has widespread impact on the public, stemming from whistleblower information that matched existing data previously under special investigation by DSI.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kamonsit Wongbutnnoi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Anti-Money Laundering Office, said that legal action has been taken against the offenders, with assets worth 168 million baht seized and frozen. The case is currently before the court. Since 2023, joint operations between AMLO and DSI have been ongoing to seize assets.

AMLO will continue to collect evidence, expand the investigation, and proceed with asset seizure actions under the Anti-Money Laundering Act.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Khemmachat Prakaihngmanee, Director of the Technology and Information Crime Division, revealed that this operation is connected to a previous special case in 2023 concerning the financial routes of the gambling website, including transactions amounting to 39 million baht to and from a particular politician. Approval was obtained to expand the special case under order number 150/2568. Investigations began in December 2025. In the prior case, 36 offenders were charged, with some already convicted by the court.

In the new 2025 case, on 27 February, investigators petitioned the court for 27 arrest warrants, including one for the politician. The court approved 25 warrants, while for two individuals, the court issued summonses due to their known whereabouts. During the recent operation, besides searches, summonses were also served to the politician, requiring him to meet investigators at DSI on 12 March 2026 at 10:00 a.m.

Police Colonel Yuttana Praedam, Director-General of DSI, stated his belief that MP Chonnapat is still in Thailand. If he remains an MP, he might have parliamentary immunity. Currently, investigators have issued a summons to him. While parliament is not in session, authorities have the power to proceed, but if parliament is in session, he would have immunity from arrest or detention unless permission is granted by the House of Representatives.
