Revealed: Chonnaphat Has Not Submitted Document to Postpone Acknowledging Charges Meeting Still Scheduled for 12 March

The Director of the Technology Crime Division at the DSI revealed that a summons has been issued to "Chonnaphat Naksua" for 12 March to acknowledge charges in an online gambling case. This remains the original schedule as the individual has not submitted any document requesting a postponement. The investigator will question on all relevant issues. Meanwhile, 24 other suspects with arrest warrants are mostly residing abroad.

On 7 Mar 2026 GMT+7, reporters provided an update following a special investigation team’s operation to search and arrest some suspects involved in an online gambling website case, Special Case No. 150/2568, charged with organizing online gambling, conspiracy, and money laundering. The suspect in question is an administrator of the online gambling website named Ms. Nareerut. On 5 Mar, she was arrested in Din Daeng district, Bangkok, and was submitted for detention at the Criminal Court on 6 Mar. The investigation team opposed bail, and the court allowed the first detention for 12 days without bail.

Currently, 24 suspects remain with outstanding arrest warrants and are being tracked for arrest and prosecution. Most of these suspects are found to reside in neighboring countries, which does not pose an obstacle. If any suspect returns to Thailand, authorities can arrest and submit them to the court for detention.

Lt. Col. Khemchat Prakaihongsamanee, Director of the Technology and Information Crime Division, stated that a summons has been issued to the male politician suspect, scheduled for 12 March at 10:00 a.m. at the DSI building on Chaeng Watthana Road, Bangkok, to acknowledge charges of organizing online gambling, conspiracy, and money laundering. Upon review, no document requesting postponement of the charge acknowledgment has been received, so the original schedule stands.

Regarding the investigation of the male politician’s testimony, it will involve financial transactions because this special case involves investigators and the Anti-Money Laundering Office working on money laundering from online gambling. Thus, civil financial data will be reviewed followed by criminal matters. The investigator confirmed that questioning will cover all aspects, not focusing on any single issue, aiming for a thorough and complete case file. He also noted that most of the remaining 24 suspects with arrest warrants reside abroad.

Reporters further noted that during the press conference of the Department of Special Investigation and the Minister of Justice, confirmation was given regarding parliamentary immunity for members of the House of Representatives when facing criminal charges. Being a member may confer immunity when summoned to acknowledge charges, as with Mr. Chonnaphat’s summons for 12 March, but currently the parliamentary session is not in session.

Therefore, investigators still have authority to proceed. If Mr. Chonnaphat does not appear to acknowledge the charges on the first summons, regardless of any reason for postponement, investigators will issue a second summons. If he still fails to appear and does not notify reasons for absence, investigators will request the court to issue an arrest warrant. However, if this coincides with a parliamentary session, Mr. Chonnaphat would have immunity preventing arrest or detention unless permission is granted by the House of Representatives.
