This group fired upon the opposing party who invaded their home. Police searched the house and found two handguns: one .38 caliber and one 11 mm.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Detrapee Khongdee summarized preliminary investigation results, stating that last night’s incident involved two groups: 14 youths led by a 19-year-old named Oom, who attacked using one homemade pistol and firecrackers, firing over 10 shots at the rival group, injuring two people. The opposing group of five, led by 19-year-old Ikkyu, fired back with two guns and shot at the vehicle, seriously injuring one person with a bullet to the back of the head. Police have detained all members of both groups.
Of the five in Ikkyu’s group, three adults are held at the police station, while Ikkyu and one other remain hospitalized for treatment.
The motive originated from a dispute at the Red Cross Fair on 9 March, where both groups provoked a fight. Ikkyu and three others used knives to injure three members of Oom’s group near the Thai Charoen Rice Mill intersection on a public road. The injured were Oom’s associates. This led to online challenges on Facebook and Messenger, culminating in the violent confrontation last night. Authorities are still gathering further statements as accounts from both groups differ on both incidents.
Initially, Sai Noi Police charged all 19 suspects with conspiracy to commit murder, running a brothel, carrying firearms in a city, village, or public place without cause, unlawful discharge of firearms, and possession of firearms without a license. Suspects over 18 will be sent for detention at Nonthaburi Provincial Court tomorrow, with bail opposed due to the severity of the crime.
Among them, two juveniles aged 17 will be sent to prosecutors and multidisciplinary teams for further investigation.
Pol. Col. Nattadecha Thanisaprapong, Chief of Sai Noi Police, revealed that the case from the Red Cross Fair night is being handled separately. Four suspects have been summoned for assault charges, including Ikkyu, who was involved in both incidents. If they fail to respond to the summons, police will issue warrants according to law.
Regarding concerns raised by guardians of the 14 youths that older suspects in Ikkyu’s group might be taking the blame for minors, police firmly denied this, confirming no one is being shielded and all will face legal proceedings.
